These terms can be measured in gauge too, just like plastic or sheet metal. The heavier the gauge, the thicker and more puncture and tear-resistant the foil is.

  • Standard-Duty: 0.00062" or 55 gauge; versatile all-purpose foodservice foil solution

  • Heavy-Duty: 0.0009" or 80 gauge; designed to withstand more wear and tear than standard-duty foil

  • Extra Heavy-Duty: 0.0013" or 135 gauge; durable for freezing and high-heat cooking

  • Lining ovens and grilling grates
  • Lining pans for baking, broiling, and roasting

  • Covering stainless steel steam table pans for transport

Extra Heavy-Duty Aluminum Foil

Extra heavy-duty aluminum foil is thicker and more durable than standard or heavy-duty foils, making it ideal for high-heat cooking, freezing, and wrapping bulky items. It is typically around 0.0013 inches thick, providing superior strength and heat retention. Its thickness also makes it ideal for preserving the freshness of foods in the freezer, protecting them from freezer burn and odors.

  • Lining pans for heat retention
  • Wrapping meats for roasting or grilling
  • Protecting pans as a lid in transport
