Continental Refrigerator: Cleaning the Condenser

Continental Refrigerator: Cleaning the Condenser

Today, we're going to discuss the importance and the procedure of cleaning your condenser coil on your Continental refrigerator or freezer. This is important for many reasons. Firstly, it will conserve energy, cut down on your service costs, and also add life to your compressor. It's always important to disconnect the power to your cabinet before doing any preventive maintenance. The first thing you want to determine is where your condensing unit is located. It could be located on the top of the unit, at the rear of the unit, or on the front. Now what you want to do is located the condensing unit and remove the front grill. Once the grill is removed, you'll see the condensing unit and the condenser coil looks like the radiator in your car and inspect for any dirt or paper. Using a stiff nylon brush, remove any debris in a downward motion and always go in the direction of the fins. Depending on the amount of dirt, you may also want to use a shop-vac and you can also pass a flashlight into the fins to see if you can see through or have any additional blockage. If everything looks good, reattach the grill and start your unit. If further information is needed, consult the operation manual on our website at www.continentalrefrigerator.com.

Continental Refrigerator: Replacing a Door Gasket

Continental Refrigerator: Replacing a Door Gasket

In this segment, we're going to discuss the care and the steps needed to replace the door gasket on your Continental refrigerator or freezer. It's very important to maintain your gaskets. On a regular basis, they should be inspected for any wear or tear on the sides or on the top. If needed to clean your gasket, use mild soap with warm water and a soft-bristle brush. If a door gasket is required, contact the factory or your supplier with the model and serial number of the case and that'll determine exactly the part number and the gasket needed. No tools are required to replace the gasket. Grasp the top corner or the door gasket and pull straight out of the retainer. Once the gasket is fully removed from the door, take the new gasket and line up the dart on the gasket with the retainer. Pushing with your thumb, making sure that the dart is in line. Once the gasket is in place, close the door, inspect for any gaps or sealing issues, and that's all that is needed to replace a door gasket on your Continental refrigerator or freezer. If additional information is needed, consult the factory or the operation manual, which can be downloaded on www.continentalrefrigerator.com.

Continental Refrigerator: Converting Doors to Drawers on Sandwich and Undercounter Units

Continental Refrigerator: Converting Doors to Drawers on Sandwich and Undercounter Units

Hello, in this segment we’re going to show how to convert your Continental undercounter or sandwich case from a door to a drawer. It’s always recommended to disconnect the power to your cabinet before service or modifications. In this segment you are going to need the following tools: a Phillips screwdriver, or a Philips adapter for the drill, a cordless drill with an eighth inch drill bit, and 6 Philips #8 truss head sheet metal screws as well as a pair of pliers not shown in the video to remove the vertical pilaster strips. Once the power’s been disconnected, open the door and remove the top and bottom hinge screws, set the door to the side, also remove the shelf and the side wall vertical pilaster strips. Take the four hinge screws that you removed, reinsert into the four hinge holes, top and bottom. Your drawer cage assembly will consist of 2 drawers and the cage with the center mullion that holds the drawers. Open the top drawer, slide the locking clip from the slide forward and down the back, and remove the top and bottom drawers and set to the side. Carefully lift up and slide the cage assembly into the door opening. Be sure that the center mullion is flush with the front of the case. Locate the six mounting holes in the cage assembly and take your eighth inch drill and drill into the plastic breaker covers. Insert the 6 Phillips screws into the predrilled mounting holes. Install the top and bottom drawer, locking the slide clip on right and left sides. Open and close the top and bottom drawers making sure they close properly and have a good gasket seal. I hope this information was helpful and if you need additional information, please contact the factory or you can download the operation manuals from our website, www.continentalrefrigerator.com.

Customer questions about this product

How do I know if this unit will fit under or match the height of my ADA-Height counter?
Many manufacturers offer their refrigeration equipment in several different height options to best meet your needs. Here's a breakdown of how we classify these different heights:

Counter Height: Work surface is more than 34" high; standard height unit.

ADA Height: Work surface height is 34" or less; complies with ADA regulations.

Low Profile: Work surface height is less than 32"; designed to fit under most ADA-height counters.

If the unit you are purchasing does not have a flat top, such as a worktop or sandwich/salad prep table, it may affect whether or not it will align with certain countertops. To ensure that the product will meet your needs, please reference the product's literature and specifications.
What kinds of pans can I use in my refrigerated prep table?
While various configurations combining traditional 1/3 size, 1/6 size, and other food pan sizes are possible, it's important to refer to your equipment's Specification Sheet and/or Owner's Manual to see what pan sizes and configurations are recommended. Certain accessories may be needed in order to use pans of a different size than what is recommended. It is also important to note that mixing and matching pans from different manufacturers may result in the pans not fitting properly.
What does the “N” mean in the newer Continental Refrigerator model numbers?
This is a representation that the unit is using a “natural” or "Hydrocarbon" refrigerant. This would include both R290 and R600a refrigerants. They are being used as an eco-friendly refrigerant by Continental Refrigerator in response to the EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program. Read more about this program in our blog post on Refrigerant Regulations.
