There is most definitely a notable difference in heft and durability between the 16 gauge and the 18 gauge. For the price, this is a ridiculous bargain that'll hold up for years in my opinion. It's the shiny steel that will hold up to scouring and I've seen restaurant pans get scoured almost through so the extra weight is longer life.
