Master-Bilt Glass Door Merchandisers

Hi, I'm Chris Bennett, Technical Service Manager for Master-Bilt. Today I'd like to discuss some things with you that will help optimize the performance and operations of your glass door merchandiser. First and foremost, the #1 thing that needs to be done is to clean the condenser coil, this will increase the performance and also efficiency. The front grill is attached by four screws—one in each corner. I will demonstrate now how to take those out with just a regular Philips head screwdriver. Once you've removed the front grill, your condenser coil will then be exposed. Power to the case should be off at this point in time. Typically, you can do the cleaning with just an ordinary brush, by rubbing the dirt, lint, and debris down and away from the coil. You want to be sure to brush the debris down from the coil as the intake is on this side, so you want to pull the debris out. Once you've cleaned your condenser coil, re-install the front grill, and be sure to put the screws back as well. The next thing to check for is the adjustment of your doors to make sure they self-close properly. As you can see, this door does not self-close. That can be easily adjusted by the adjustment at the bottom of the door. To do this, all you need is a flat-head screwdriver, and turn the screw counterclockwise until the door closes. Once the door closes, make an additional turn and a half to ensure the door will close when it is opened. Now the door operates properly. Another occurrence that happens from time to time through normal use is the door may begin to sag. That can also be taken care of by using a flat-head screwdriver and adjusting the adjustment screw on the inside of the door. It should also be turned counter-clockwise to make this correction. Another check to make, is to make sure your gasket is not damaged or torn by either stocking or purchasing from customers. To do this, just rub over with your hand to make sure there's no tear marks. If you want to change the temperature to better suit your needs. That is easily done on this electronic control by pressing the "I" button to display the set point and then by pressing the up or down button to your desired temperature. Releasing the "I" button will then automatically set the temperature. Another thing that you will very likely want to do is give your case a general cleaning. This can be done with a general purpose glass cleaner for the glass doors as well as the painted panels. Last but not least, you'll need to do a visual inspection of the evaporator coils located inside your case. From time to time, stickers or paper maybe become stuck to the fan guard. At that point in time, just remove the stickers or paper to help increase the air flow. After that, just use a flashlight to inspect the coils to see if they are dirty. If it does happen to be dirty, this cleaning should be performed by a service technician. For technical assistance, there's a 1-800 number listed on the top left of your cabinet, it will also tell the model number and the serial number of the case. Please have these numbers ready once you make the call. Thank you for viewing today's video, we hope that is was very informational. If additional assistance is needed, please dial 1-800-684-8988 and one of our technical service representatives will be glad to assist you.

Master-Bilt Reach-In Merchandisers: Adjusting Door Tension

Master-Bilt Reach-In Merchandisers: Adjusting Door Tension

One of the common problems that occurs with glass reach-in door cabinets is an issue with door tensioning. Sometimes in shipping, doors can lose their tension. It's important at setup to check all the doors to make sure they have proper tension. Even after they've been in place for some time, if you start getting reports of doors that are standing open or especially if you have icing on the evaporator coils, it's difficult to diagnose. It can very well be caused by something like this. If you close one of the doors of a cabinet, especially a 3 or 4 door cabinet, it will cause one of the tension doors to pop open and relieve the compressed air pressure. You can see that this door has no tension. It will not close. If it stands open long enough, it's going to pull in humid air and create coil icing. The key here is to set tension on this little device at the bottom of the hinge side of the door. You see, with a flat blade screwdriver, we can adjust tension and we want to adjust until that door starts to move and actually closes. Once you get the door to self close from that open position by, in this case turning counter-clockwise, give it about another turn and then test the setting by pulling the door open 6 inches and releasing. If the door will self close on a well-leveled cabinet from 6 inches of open, it has got sufficient tension. You don't want to over tension because that shortens the life of door tensioning rod or can cause it to break.
