Getting your brand new charbroiler cleaned, seasoned, and ready to use is easy! A properly seasoned charbroiler will produce better tasting food. Plus, it will last longer, resist rusting better, and be easier to clean. Follow these easy steps to season your charbroiler. After you’ve uncrated your charbroiler and hooked it up, it’s a good idea to wash the exterior with a mild detergent. Next, light all the burners and leave them at the maximum setting for 30 minutes. This will burn off any oils, dust, or protective coatings from the shipping and manufacturing processes. After the grates have cooled completely, you’ll want to season them to prevent sticking. First, coat the grates with a high-heat cooking spray or oil like Canola oil. It’s a good idea to wipe them with a paper towel or cloth to make sure you have them covered evenly. Next, turn all your burners on high and leave them on for 30 minutes or until your charbroiler stops smoking. Turn off the burners and let the unit cool off. Hi, I’m Bill Verity, president of Crown Verity, and today we’re going to talk about our Crown Verity built-in grills. You’ll see Crown Verity built-in grills in commercial applications such as resorts, golf courses, hotels. You’ll also see them in residential homes and cottages. We have three sizes – we’re looking at a 30 inch here. We have a 36 inch and a 48 inch. We have some unique installations where customers have actually banked two 30 inches and two 36 inches together, so they’ll actually have 60 or 72 inches of grill surface. So really, you’re limited by your imagination on the size of the built-in grills that we can do for you. We’ve got the 30 inch, and we’ve got a simulated island here that we’ve built to give you an idea of how the units are actually built in. All of our models have a large selection of options and accessories that are available. We have an adjustable bun rack for all of our models. We have griddles that will fit in for all of our models. We have also have steam pan adapters to go in; a rotisserie; we have heavy duty barbecue covers; a cover that will go over and protect it from the elements; and we have stainless steel doors. It’s a perfect option when you’re custom designing and building your own island.

Here I’m holding one of our stainless steel doors for our built-in grills. This is one of our most popular options for our built-ins. They physically can be installed directly underneath the built-in. It’s limited to your imagination. So you can actually custom design your own outdoor island. These are, again, a fantastic option. You can store all kinds of useful tools, pans, spices underneath your grill.

I’ve got a vertical door in my hand here; these are a great option. It opens quite easily. If you want a left-hand hinge or a right-hand hinge, you just reverse it, and you can have it opening left- or right-hinge, whichever you wish. This is an option that is going to give you your ultimate outdoor kitchen with a Crown Verity grill.

Lighting your built-in grill

Let me show you how to light our built-ins – very, very easy. As with any barbecue, the first thing you always do is open up your lid. I happen to have a utility lighter here. So we have a port here to put the utility lighter in; so the first thing we do – we click and get the utility lighter going and then we turn the pilot burner on, always gas to flame. Once your pilot is going, then you can turn on whichever burner you wish – very, very simple.

Like all Crown Verity grills, our built-ins have a water pan for easy cleanup. Let’s take a look; slide out our water pan; we always keep an inch, inch-and-a-half of water in here; it gives moisture to the food and ensures that we won’t have a grease fire. End of the day – drain it out into a pail of water, or you can remove the whole water pan and drain it out.

All Crown Verity built-in grills are constructed of quality 304 number 4 finish stainless steel. Everything you see here is stainless steel including the grates, and this is to ensure years and years of trouble-free operation – and they’re just going to last a lifetime. Now, we’ll deal with roll dome removal and installation. Crown Verity roll dome’s are designed to be removed, they are an accessory, they’re held in place with a couple of stainless steel pins at the back they slide into these tracks. This could be part of a repair sequence, a new purchase where you just recently received a new roll dome we’ll show you how to install one or perhaps you just prefer to cook with an open-top grill. We’ll show you how to safely remove it and install it. The first thing you want to do is remove the stainless steel pins in the back of the grill. Close the roll dome partway and start sliding it back, just about two inches and at this point you probably want to get some help. So we’ll start pulling this out and as we get close to the end we want to make sure that we’re supporting the inner part of the roll dome with our hands. Go ahead and we’ll just pull that off, nice and easy, and lay it on the ground. Whether you’ve completed your repairs, you’re reinstalling the roll dome because you did an event where you didn’t need it, or you purchased a brand new one, we’ll show you how to safely install a new one. So again, as in removal, we’re going to support both parts of the roll dome, two people, take it to the grill and you want to make sure we’re aligning the inner skin with the tracks. It can’t be on top, it must be in the track. Slide it on, all the way, and we’ll put the stainless steel pins in.

Welcome to the Crown Verity repair show, my name is Al Frenette. I’m in tech support and we’re going to walk you guys through some repair sequences on Crown Verity’s barbeques and there are a few things we want to do before we get into the repair jobs themselves. These are some measures you want to take before you get into; burner replacement, lighter tube replacement, anything to do with wheels or casters, conversion anything like that. Okay, there are a few things we want to do, just to be safe and make things easier for ourselves when we’re doing these jobs. Okay, first things first, we want to make sure the grill is cool and we’re not working on a hot grill. We’re going to make sure the propane tank cylinder valve is in the off position. Remove the regulator, set it and the hose aside, lift the retainer, lift the propane tank remove and set it aside. If you’re connected to natural gas, or a fixed propane system, shut the fuel supply off with the valve and disconnect the hose. The next thing we want to do is remove the grease tray. If there’s a lot of water in there, get yourself a bucket. Remove the cap, drain out the excess water, and the grease pan comes out by lifting it, pulling, sliding it out, and we’ll set that aside as well. Fuels disconnected, grease pans removed, there are a few other parts we’re going to set aside here. We’ll lift our warming rack out and set it aside. Cooking grates, they just lift out as well. Yours are probably dirty than mine. The heat shield also needs to come out, the heat shield is the piece of metal here sitting in front guarding the valves, set that aside.

Handle replacement, be it a roll dome handle, trash bar, or a push handle it’s all the same. The bolts are always inserted from the inside. So if you look in here you’ll see the bolt coming through the backend behind the stainless into the handle. Follow the handle and find the bolt. 7/16 inch wrench or socket to remove the bolts. Come to the other side, loosen that, handle’s off. Replacement is in reverse order. The new handle will come with new hardware. Place it over the holes, the bolt and lock washer place as shown. Start it by hand, and finish it with a wrench.

Badge replacement: the Crown Verity badge is held on with three spring clips on the inside, and for TV we’ve left two off. To remove the last one there just get yourself a flat screwdriver and pry these clips off. You’re new badge will come with the three clips all ready to go. Just install the badge in the three holes, again open the roll dome. From inside start that clip by hand, and do all three. We need to seat those clips and the best tool for that is in my back pocket, it’s a nut driver or a socket. Line that up like so and support the badge here with our hand and push on those clips. That’s all there is to it, badge installed.

The lighting instructions: the first thing we do is we make sure all our burners and our pilot light are off. We open up the roll dome, and then we put the propane tank on. All Crown Verity grills are capable of taking a standard twenty pound cylinder—either one or two cylinders. Our larger BBQs require two. It’s very simple to attach the tank to the tank bracket. Slide the tank down. We lift up the tank bracket, slide it down over the tank collar, and we tighten the wing nut; and your tank is secure. We take the hose and the regulator; attach it here. We’re ready to go. We open up the propane tank valve. Now that we have the propane tank fastened, and we have our propane valve turned on, again, we check to make sure that everything is off. If everything is off, we take our utility lighter and put it into the port, and we turn our pilot light on. The pilot light’s on; we turn our individual burners on. We’re ready to cook.
