Today we're going to show you how to season cooking pans. Pan seasoning is essential to any food service operation, as it keeps your pans from rusting and your food from sticking to the pans. Seasoning cooking pans saves you time and money. We'll show you how to season five different types of cooking pans in this video. A cast iron skillet, a carbon steel fry pan, a carbon steel wok, a tin-plated pan, and a hard coat aluminum pan.

For a carbon steel pan, start by washing, rinsing, and drying the pan. Heat the pan on your range on medium to high heat, then add shortening to the pan. Use a clean dry towel to spread the shortening around the interior of the pan, creating an even coat. Remove the pan from the heat, wipe out the excess shortening and let it cool. You can repeat this process up to 3 more times. For a cast iron skillet, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking pan with aluminum foil and set aside. Wash, rinse, and dry your skillet. Place the skillet in the oven for 15 minutes. Remove and coat the entire skillet with shortening, inside and out. Place the skillet in the oven for 45 minutes with the baking pan on a rack below it to catch any mess. You can repeat this process up to three more times.

    On the first use, the black wok outside got mixed to the food. I had to throw. will probably not buy this item again from here. Bad experience.

    Bigger than expected. Heavy duty feel so get the ring to help avoid arm strain. Love having a wok this size for stir fry foods. Definitely good for commercial use, a bit much for the home.
    This wok is huge and heavy duty. It's quite heavy as well, so make sure you have the arm strength to carry it around as needed!
    excellent product. It came very well packaged. And in a timely manner. After following directions for seasoning . I was ready to take it for a spin. I was amazed. It is ver sturdy.Nothing sticks and is very easy to handle for stir frying.
    You cannot beat the price for this Mandarin style 16 inch wok. It’s the perfect size, any bigger is a little clunky and hard to handle. This one is deep enough to handle a large order of fried rice
    We have used this wok a handful of times now and it works great! Just remember to season it correctly before using and we have no problems cleaning it or keeping food from sticking to the side walls. The handle also stays cool because it is hollow. Would purchase again!

    I Love this wok ! It looks just like the kind I see when I go to a local chinese take out restuarant. The size of this wok allows me to stir fry a bulk sized bag of my favorite mixed vegetables, or rice , or most other foods requiring steaming. The optional ring lifts the pan at least 2 inches above the direct flame fior better control. The wok isn’t fancy , just a plain looking sturdy cooking device , that will give you years of good use. My only detraction is that I wish the handle was more user friendly. The handle is round and hollow, It would have been easier had the handle been flat with perhaps a hard-plastic covering, but other than that, great cooking device, highly recommend.
    The Town 16” Mandarin Wok is excellent. It heats evenly and can hold up to a lot of use. The Handle doesn’t get too hot and it is sturdy, it is very easy to clean and the price is great. You can’t go wrong with this item!
    This work is a bit thin so the metal bends easily. Time will tell whether it will warp beyond usable. It's still pretty good for the price. The bottom isn't perfectly round either but doesn't seem noticeable while stir-frying with a wok ladle. I recommend 16" and larger wok to stir fry Asian vegetables or cooking for 3 or more people.

    It is the good product. Material is suit to use for hard work in the kitchen. Absolutely easy to clean. It is quick reaching to high heat.
    A great 36" mandarin wok that is perfectly for making fried rice. The edges are high so its easy to stir and flip without making a mess. The wok is very well made.
    Large 16' wok's allowing cooking multiple same entrees at a time. In a 14' wok I can cook 2 fried rices at the same time but I end up lossing a lot of rice during the tossing process. Recommended if you do heavy volume.
    Light weight, fast reaction to changes in heat. Mandarin handle is longer and helps keep hand away from the flame compared to Cantonese style. Weld is a bit rough and could have been ground down better.

    This wok looks really nice, WILL NOT FIT ON NORMAL STOVE/BURNER, ONLY ORDER FOR COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT. Besides that it is a great wok and will last lifetimes if properly cared for.
    Unbelievable product for such a great price. Works great at home with my gas stove top creating my stir-fry recipes with ease. Take your time to properly season this pan.

    16" wok make it easier to cook a large batch of food items. Heat is distributed evenly even with high heat. Must burn the grease off before cooking and season after use.
