Customer Q&A Ask a Question

Does the hp (horsepower) rating of this mixer reflect the output to the mixer bowl?
Our motor hp reference is meant to indicate the horsepower rating of the motor itself and not the mixer's horsepower output to the mixer bowl.
What are the differences between commercial and residential KitchenAid mixers?
Compared to residential KitchenAid mixers, commercial KitchenAid units are more powerful, incorporate durable components, offer extra safety features, and have an extended warranty. Commercial mixers also come with an 8 qt. stackable stainless steel bowl rather than a 6 qt. bowl, allowing you to mix larger batches of ingredients. While residential mixers include cast aluminum accessories that must be hand washed, commercial mixers come with heavy-duty stainless steel accessories that are dishwasher safe for fast cleanup. KitchenAid commercial mixers are NSF Listed and include a 73 1/2” orange commercial-grade cord to ensure superior safety and sanitation. Working with a residential mixer in a commercial kitchen will void the warranty on your unit and may result in health inspector violations.

Kitchenaid 8 Quart Commercial Mixer

Check out this video to find out why professionals are flocking to this new Kitchen Aid® Commercial Stand Mixer. Designed with chefs in mind, this mixer is just what you need to whip up large and small batches of your most popular recipes.

A commercial mixer is a critical part of many foodservice businesses, especially bakeries. That’s why we’ve laid out our commercial mixers according to the major factors that most impact their performance. The first consideration is the type of mixer that you want. Planetary mixers are the most common and versatile type. They mix ingredients together in batter or dough with whisks, beaters, or hooks, for high volume jobs. Spiral mixers are great for specializing in dough and with other mixtures that have a thick texture, making them great for bread and pretzel bakeries. Last, vertical cutter mixers can be used like a giant blender for everything from salad prep to dough preparation but it gives your baked goods a different consistency than dough prepared in other mixers. Each of these mixer types is also divided into standard, medium, and heavy duty applications. Standard duty mixers give you the power needed to create foods in smaller batches. Medium duty models are good for larger quantities of food and keep up with demand. And heavy duty units are the best in terms of strength, reliability, durability, and power for bakeries and pizzerias. Every commercial mixer also comes with a different transmission. Belt driven units use a simple strap system, similar to an engine belt, to turn the agitator inside the mixing bowl which makes them easier to maintain and repair. Direct drive mixers let you change speeds with the simple push of a button, and gear driven mixers utilize an intricate inner assembly of gears and cogs to prevent slips and stutters. Finally , variable speed mixers are made specifically to deliver torque and power for light duty use. Mixers are also available with different size bowls, from 5 – 220 quarts to accommodate the quantity of ingredients that you want to mix together. Depending on the size, you can use a smaller unit on the countertop or a work table, while a larger product is best used on the floor. You can also find commercial mixers with different speed options to operate quickly or slowly, and each commercial mixer comes with an internal motor that ranges from ½ to 7 hp. Best of all, you can easily find dozens of models that are NSF Certified so you can be sure the unit you buy is easy to clean and sanitize.

After almost a year of use I had an issue. It was by far the easiest warranty claim EVER. One phone call, I had a whole new mixer in two days with a return shipping label for the old one. Great product, great service

I have a medium size bakery/deli that really puts the kitchenAid to some hard task. i'm going on to 4 years since purchase and it is still working like the first day I got it. I do recommend if you are going to use it in a commercial environment, to add an extra bowl and attachment as the only thing that will slow this kitchenAid mixer is the time it takes for you to clean the bowl and attachment for the next task.

Holy Smokes! For 6 years i have been baking around 100 loaves of quick bread with a Kitchen Aid Mixer i bought in the LATE 70'S! I sell all summer at 5 different Farmers Markets, so my mixer is going all the time. Why didn't i get this wonderful 8 qt mixer years ago? Yes u have to adjust your recipes, yes u have to strengthen your forearms and wrists (ha ha) but man can u bake bread! Cutting my baking time down a third for sure. True Kitchen Aid dependability, Motor on this commercial unit is awesome. Have not moved past speed 2 yet! Please get this mixer. You won't regret it . Also, let me save you some time researching $$$$. This is the best deal on the internet to my knowledge. Searched for hours. Webstaurant is fast and dependable for me.

from Elwell Etcetera on

It worked great. The only thing is not that quiet when I turn it up to 8. It's not as quiet as the 5qt artisan mixer. But I do like the higher volume in it.

How did I ever live without a Kitchenaid mixer?! Love the bigger size of this one. Don't need the bright cord, but doesn't hurt!

What can i say about this.... Well it is my favorite! I just love everything about this. I have been even finding reasons to use this that normally i wouldn't. Love it. It the prefect color. The bowl securely snaps in place as well as locks onto pegs. The different types of mixing heads locks in as well. I do wish the whisk head would go closer to the bottom of the bowl but it does just fine. If you need a mixer for anything from just simple small batches to large mixes get this! You will not be disappointed!

from The Enchanted Bean on

I’ve been wanting to make the switch to the commercial kitchenaid mixer for a while now and I regret not doing it sooner. This motor is much more powerful than the 6 quart professional and it’s very nice that it is nsf. The bowl size is very nice too because it’s taller than the smaller kitchenaid mixers but not wider, so its footprint is still minimal. This is the best mixer for the price.

from Lab on

The mixer mixed like a dream generally! I am just disappointed at the attachments that look like crap right out of the box. I was excited to find such a good deal on this mixer; seriously, this is the best price I have seen on this model.

from mr. pepe on

Super glad this arrived quickly and with free shipping at a time I needed most - Christmastime! This one is louder than my old one, but working great.

from KMM on

This Kitchen Aid was awesome for our first year. Worked great, obviously a lot of wear a tear in our kitchen. The motor went out about 9 months in but kitchen aid replaced so quick we didn’t even notice. Recommended

from Attraversiamo on

This is a beautiful mixer. I like that it comes in different colors that you can choose from. It is perfect for professional bakers but beginners too

Absolutely love my KITCHENAID 8 qt mixer. This is the best mixer we have purchased. You wont be disappointed. Super powerful. Mixes ingredients superbly. A must appliance in the kitchen

from The Pie Spot on

It's a commercial grade KitchenAid and I love it! 8 quart is just right for making single or double batches of things. It's light enough that I can move it from a storage shelf to the work surface without hurting myself. We also got the apple corer/peeler/slicer to go with it and our pie making is a delight.

from Full of Beans Cafe on

I just noted that I never sent my review on this item, and it has been few years now with any complaints at all. Great buy!

from Administrative Office of the Courts on

I love this kitchen aid, it’s so much better then the regular mixer. This is nsf so it’s a lot more powerful then the non nsf.

This is my third KitchenAid stand mixer. The first I bought in the 70's (and is now used by my son). I had bought one of the "bad" 6 quart mixers where the gear box would overheat and strip out. We weren't sure at first if we would ever get one again, but the one from the 70's was solid as a tank (the 6 quart was a Yugo). I am very happy to say this is a fantastic mixer, it takes everything we throw at it without straining. I'm so glad they still build a tank!

This mixer works like a charm. I've had it for so little time and I absolutely love it. It's actually my moms but I love it so much I can't stay away from it.

from Pescadería mar de cortes on

Absolutely love my Kitchenaid mixer! Although I do not own a business, I did finally invest in this mixer for all the baking I do and it has yet to let me down. Gets the job for Thanksgiving gatherings and fundraisers of all sorts. A little bit of a hassle to transport - naturally - but overall very satisfied and definitely worth the buck!

I would rate this mixer 3.5 stars. Honestly, I wish I just shelled out the extra money for a Globe. This motor sounds like it's really working hard when I am mixing thick doughs. I feel like the quality of KitchenAid has really gone down since Hobart sold the company. Though, this is a way nicer model than the retail stores sell. The attachments are all solid stainless steel with NSF rating. I can mix a triple batch of cookie dough in it.

This mixer works like a charm. I've had it for so little time and I absolutely love it. It's actually my moms but I love it so much I can't stay away from it.
