Leer Features and Benefits of Electronic Controls

Leer Features and Benefits of Electronic Controls

Hi. Today I want to talk to you a little bit about our recent change to using the electronic control in all of our ice merchandisers. Some of the advantages of this control over top the standard mechanic controls that have been used for many years is that we have this digital display, which allows you to see your cabinet temperature. We have adjustability in the parameters that can be changed to suit specific locations and any extraordinary circumstances you may have to deal with. The control itself has some safeties in it, which are very beneficial. The air sensing probe, which controls the temperature of the cabinet - in the event of the failure of that probe, or if it's caught or somehow damaged - the control has intelligence built into it where it will cycle the compressor on and off on a preset period of time. What happens with this is it will allow you to keep your ice in good condition inside the cabinet where historically, if the mechanic control fails, you lose your ice before you even realize you have a problem. Another feature we have on this, which is a safety feature on the compressor itself, is a time delay. So, if this compressor shuts off on a temperature and someone opens a door and holds it open and the compressor tries to start too soon, there's a 3 minute delay built into this - and that again is an adjustable parameter, but right now we have it at 3 minutes. It will now let the compressor cycle for 3 minutes, thereby making for an easier starting compressor, a little more of a soft start for the pressure to equalize. The termination for defrost - we have time and temperature termination for defrost. The sensor that's inserted into the evaporator coil, inside the unit cooler - that senses temperature. So when it goes into defrost, it reaches a preset temperature range of approximately 46 degrees; it will assume that the coil has been cleaned out and it will terminate the defrost, thereby reducing the amount of unnecessary heat that's pushed back into your cabinet during the defrost cycle. And in the event that the coil is very frosted up, it will stay perhaps the full 16 minutes that the time portion of the control is set for. Any of these parameters are very easily adjustable and are still receptive for and before hours like it's been historically for all of our mechanical defrost merchandisers. Again, that parameter is adjustable for temperature termination; the duration of the defrost is adjustable. Those are a couple of the more important, good features of this control and should make this a very reliable merchandiser for you.

Leer Ice Merchandiser Door

Leer Ice Merchandiser Door

Every minute of every day, the packaged ice industry meets the needs of an increasingly demanding market, and over 60 years, one company has provided the innovations needed to fuel customer's success. That company is Leer. Since its founding in 1952, Leer has pioneered every important new technology in the ice merchandiser category. Through continuous innovations, Leer ice merchandisers are reliable, durable, and the most energy efficient ice merchandisers available today. Over the years, our innovations have given Leer's customers the best outdoor merchandiser door in the industry. Let's review some of the key technologies that went into making the Leer doors what they are today. PVC framed doors. Building PVC framed doors gave Leer a door that was much stronger than others in the industry, leading to increased durability. Door gaskets. We increased the gasket functionality, allowing a better seal resulting in overall better efficiency. We were able to change the PVC frame bonding process so that the interior metal was inserted from the outside. By removing foam adhesion from the equation, we were able to offer our customers the tested and proven strongest doors in the industry. These advancements have proven to be vital in increasing the internal strength and stability of the door. Through a series of controlled environment tests, the new Leer door has proven to be the strongest merchandiser door on the market. In this pull test, the new Leer door showed a significant increase in strength. Today, Leer is implementing another upgrade to all outdoor ice merchandiser doors. Effective 2013, all exterior doors will have a material upgrade to increase durability. This material change provides a highly-robust finish that is extra scratch, stain, and mar resistant. The overall advancement presents an increase in the metal thickness, creating a stronger product. Also included in the new coating is IR reflective pigmentation, creating a cooler surface. The material has many successful applications including steel roofs and was engineered specifically for outdoor use, and the new floor of carbon coating showed impressive results to harsh chemical testing. The new material process now addresses an improvement for the outside, completing a highly-engineered door that achieves the longevity that Leer and their customers expect from the respected brand in the business. Delivering better products through innovation, Leer.

Customer questions about this product

What is the difference between cold wall refrigeration and auto defrost refrigeration?
The biggest difference between cold wall and auto defrost refrigeration is the amount of condensation created during the cooling process.

In a cold wall refrigeration system, or coil cooled system, a series of copper wires runs through the walls of the merchandiser. These copper wires radiate cold air into the cabinet in order to keep the ice cold. This causes condensation to occur on the walls of cold wall merchandisers, meaning they will need to be defrosted and cleaned regularly.

In an auto defrost refrigeration system, or forced air system, cold air is pumped into the cabinet using fans, which keeps your ice cold. This type of refrigeration system cuts down on the amount of condensation that forms inside the merchandiser, and the condensation that does form in the unit is removed by an automatic condensation evaporator system.
Will this ice merchandiser / ice transport hold ice cream?
No. Ice cream must be stored at -20 degrees Fahrenheit or below. This unit has a temperature range of 16 degrees (+/- 4 degrees).

Leer 60ASL Details

Store and sell up to (140) 10 lb. bags of ice at your convenience store, beer distributor, or supermarket with this Leer 60ASL 73" outdoor auto defrost ice merchandiser with slanted front! For efficient operation, this outdoor ice merchandiser features two durable, galvanized top-coated steel doors that provide maximum strength, yet still ensure easy loading and unloading of ice. The door openings come with high impact vinyl breaker strips to provide greater impact resistance, as well as the strength needed to handle harsh conditions. Additionally, the merchandiser boasts integrated "ICE" signage to help you grab your customers' attention.

Its 1/3 hp compressor uses R-404A refrigerant to keep the interior at consistent, cool temperatures, while the unit's automatic defrost feature helps control condensation and ice buildup. The 3" thick floor and 2 1/2" thick ceiling/wall insulation helps conserve cold energy to keep operation costs low. Thanks to its electronic control system, you can easily monitor the unit and make changes whenever necessary.

The rugged, all steel cabinet combines with water-tight, lock-form seams for optimal strength. And, thanks to the open air channels, this merchandiser provides up to 70% greater air flow than comparative units. The two-part acrylic polyurethane coating offers mid-range gloss that resists corrosion, adhesion, and humidity. A recessed drain plug makes short work of draining and cleaning the interior. A 115V electrical connection is required for operation.
