People Talk About:ice cream 2019 repair freezer holds 2020 Air Beverage days
This freezer has been a complete nightmare! Do NOT purchase one if you will be using it for ice cream or gelato. We have had repair out over a dozen times in 16 months, we have lost nearly $3000 of inventory (melted ice cream and gelato that had to be thrown out) and it still doesn’t work properly. It holds at about 25 degrees F. It will freeze water, ice up the condenser, and defrost it all over the floor, but that is about it. We were told they are shipped programmed for frozen food, but not ice cream. That should be in giant red letters on the door before a merchant stocks it for the first time. The controller (computer portion) has been replaced twice. The first time it would stay stuck in defrost all day, the second one melted all the wiring and could have burned our entire shop down. Each time repair thinks it is fixed, we run it empty a few days and monitor the temperature, things look o.k., we get brave and restock it, and a day or two later everything is melted again. We missed Memorial Day 2019, 4th of July 2019, and Labor Day 2019. We thought it was working properly, loaded it with inventory for 4th of July 2020 – disaster! It ran empty through Labor Day 2020. All of those holidays are our biggest ice cream sales days of the year. We spent a lot for a boat anchor. Warranty repair has been out so many times we have lost track. Each technician finds something else that is wrong. I have spent hours and hours on hold for dispatch or technical support over the last year. Now the ballast is out, and we are waiting on parts for it. We believe this unit is a lemon, and have asked for a replacement from Beverage Air. It has been 2 weeks tomorrow, and we are still waiting to hear back. If you want to avoid some major grief in your life, choose anything but a Beverage Air.
