What's the difference between a riveted and a welded handle?
A riveted handle is connected by small metal pieces (called rivets) that are crushed between the handle and the pan body to attach them together. This type of handle is more common on copper and aluminum cookware.
For a handle to be welded, the metal must first be melted and then adhered to the pan body. This creates a strong bond that leaves little to no space in between, so bacteria and other food crumbs can’t collect and cause sanitation issues. Both are long lasting solutions for fry and sauce pan handles because they are durable and can withstand heat.

This looks huge for a residential kitchen, but I love it for stocks and soups. Plenty of room to make large batches to freeze, but doesn’t take over the stove. I even use the other three burners while simmering soup. Obviously it gets heavy when full, but is surprisingly easy to lift and stable to carry and pour even if you aren’t a weight lifter.

Pretty sturdy with minimal flex at top. I asked Vollrath about the handles and they are designed to hold twice the weight of a full pot of water, so for this pot about 38 pounds (17 kg) net weight. I made chili in it and it looked like a full pot of chili would be around 30 pounds (these numbers all exclude the weight of the pot).
These came packaged in three nesting boxes each from Vollrath. Even though the shipping company crunched one of them the pot inside was undamaged. The pots had a gigantic sticker on the side which did not peel right off.

I was impressed with the quality of this pot - it’s sturdy walls and thick even heating bottom. It’s a good looking pot and works as intended. But if I had to do it over again, I would have bought the larger, wider pot. It’s just too narrow to comfortably reach the inside bottom to clean with Bar Keeper’s Friend. It’s not the pot’s fault, obviously. It’s just something I didn’t consider before making the purchase.

Very good build quality, made in spain. The thick bottom mades heat distribution very even.
The boil pattern is exactly what I wanted from a tall pot: water rise near the hot spot in the center, then sinks near the wall. So the liquid can happy circulate
the pot itself is not heavy, around 2 lbs
For home use, 6.5qt is big enough IMO.

Works great. Made a 5 gallon batch of beer and this was large enough to make the full 5 gallons. Had plenty of room so that it didn't boil over.

We bought these pans back in January and the stainless steel base fell off the pans. just fell right off as it was being washed. Poor quality. Next time i'll fork over the extra dollars for better product.

This pot is heavy and very sturdy. I used an aluminum stock pot before buying this one and it is much different. I loved it.
