How do high altitudes affect the vacuum sealing process?
A vacuum sealer’s performance varies with respect to location. At higher altitudes, where air pressure is less dense, vacuum sealers are unable to remove as much air from the sealing process. High-pressure conditions are an important factor in the proper functioning of the sealer’s compressor, and without enough pressure, you may notice a weaker vacuum.
Can this machine be used for retort or mylar packaging?
These vacuum packaging machines are not recommended for use with retort or mylar packaging; instead, we suggest choosing from our wide selection of vacuum packaging bags for best results! Retort and mylar packaging requires special plastic and foil laminated pouches to seal food safely.
How do I determine if a vacuum machine bag will work on my machine?

If you have a chamber-type machine: Buy a chamber-type bag (mesh-less design). The open end of the vacuum bag must be shorter than the seal bar on your machine, and the bag must also fit inside your machine’s chamber.

If you have an external-type machine: You must buy an external-type, or "out of chamber" bag (mesh design). The open end of the vacuum bag must be shorter than the seal bar on your machine.

Can I put mason jars in my vacuum packaging machine?
Yes, if the mason jar fits, you can put it in your machine. However, it is not a substitute for canning.

    After a lot of searching and cross comparison we bought the VacPak-It VCM100P. It arrived quickly, just a few days, maybe two. We chose the oil filled pump because all other reviews of similar products stated the oil filled was the quieter of the two. This assumption proved right as it is real quiet, considering the job it is doing. It's heavy coming in around 60# so waited until I had help to get it up where we wanted it. It is too valuable to risk dropping and ruining it. So far I like the machine although I do have some issues concerning it. First, the manual was written for the larger machines and the VMC10 was just tagged along to save the manufacturer form haing to write a proper manual for this model. When you go to set it up, there are a total of seven screws you have to remove from the back panel, not just the four the manual says you need to undo. Then the fill is not a bolt that you need a wrench for but a thumbscrew cap that threads into the pump fill. That's easy enough to figure out, but watch the position of the thumbscrew when you go to put the back, back on the machine. If you aren't careful, the thumbscrew will run against the back panel. Then the manual lists using VacPak-It oil, but there is no where that I have found that actually sells it for your oil changes. The manual suggests the first change at 20 hours. My experience with Chinese goods is there is going to be manufacturing residue inside that pump that I will want to get out of there, so will do my first oil change far sooner than that. That is, if I can find VacPak-It oil or a suitable replacement. For the settings, the manual says to use 1.2 seconds for the sealing, but the VMC100P only gets close to that with settings of 1.0 or 1.5 seconds. The manual also lists a red power button, which is no where to be found on the VMC100P. This might all sound like nitpicking to you. But for a piece of equipment costing a decent amount of money, a manual written for the machine is not asking for too much from the customer's viewpoint. What does scare me about this is if they scrimped by not writing and printing a separate proper manual, what else did they cheap shot, maybe in its construction? So far we are satisfied with our purchase. There are quirks about chamber sealing we will need to get used to yet. Because of a terrible experience with the manufacturer of it's nearest competitor, the VacPak-It was really going to be the only choice left for us.     This is the smallest vacuum machine I’ve ever purchased and I’m happy with the results. I opted for the oil model as I heard or read it was the quieter of the two and it indeed it. Very easy to plug and play. I bought it for my home and personal use and I can’t wait to see the awesome food I can marinade and preserve with this unit.

    This thing is massive, the door is 1"thick! Very easy to use and program, seals anything. I love this machine. It will be used mainly for sliced meats, prepared meats and sausages, wild game cuts and whole butchered processed chicken. So far it vacuums and seals anything i can stuff in the bags. More commercial than home grade use. Will last me a lifetime

    I purchased the vac sealer and I have been very happy. The unit is compact, nice lines so it is easy to keep clean. Webstaurant store does a great job with shipping so it arrived in perfect condition. I will get a lot of use out of this machne going forwRD

    I ordered this vacuum sealer and was shipped within days. It was pretty light and has all instructions. Once I read through the instructions it was easy to operate. The sealer worked great. Sealed all my food without any problems and all the controls are in the front for easy access. I did great with dry items and wet items. Lid makes it very easy to open and close with a lock latch for it. easy to start and works without any issues. The chamber is a good size for sealing and the heat bar is pretty wide as well for a secure seal... LOVE IT

    We burned through a few thousand FoodSavers before we finally bit the bullet and purchased this machine. After almost a full year of use, we are very pleased with it. We put away a few whole animals a month for our on-farm butchering classes, and so far we have had none of the typical problems that crept up with other commercial machines we have used in other facilities. In the past, seal bars on other machines heat up too much and cause melting problems and the seals are not as tight AFTER a full day of use. However, this machine has not had these endurance problems, and so far has handled everything we throw at it with very little maintenance. Very easy to clean. Sturdy and a real game changer for us. Keep the oil fresh and you should have no problems.

    Our company spent a significant amount of time researching the right Chamber Vacuum Sealer for our needs. After going through a less than stellar experience with another brand we settled on the VacPak-It VMC10OP. The machine was delivered and arrived in excellent condition signature required. Setup was extremely fast and easy. We did notice a few small errors in the manual regarding setup. Once setup we were ready to start working. The machine is super quiet compared to other machines and provides excellent vacuum pressure and a very secure seal. We are super excited with our new machine and after 150+ seals in the first day things are working great!

    The VMC10OP is perfect for all our preservation and fast marinating needs. The set up was simple and quick, and has proved efficient and simple for all users. Its counter profile is not obtrusive and fits nicely on our prep island. From cakes to venison fillets, this machine will get a lot of use.
    The Vacpak-it Chamber Vacuum Packaging Machine is the best solution for frequent vacuum sealing purposes and also at the best price. It's pretty heavy for it's size, which means it's well made, so be careful when lifting and moving it. After reading through the manual twice and operating the machine based on the prescribed instructions, it was very easy to operate.
    first, we just wanted to use this vacuum machine for a more effective way to store frozen items, no freezer burn, and more space since we don't need to freeze air inside a zip back any longer. but this machine is giving us new ideas every day. so, for example, we have those salt grinder with our natural American sea salt infusions. Instead of only sealing the caps we now seal and Baum the hole grinder. Makes it more professional and the customer loves it. once it is in your kitchen you will find lots of use cases for it! yes, it is not cheap but it is an investment! A good one in our views!
    This thing is a workhorse. I haven't had an issue with this from day one. I am able to adjust the seal time when needed and it just doesn't get better than this for the price. Fantastic product.
    I ordered the VMC10OP and it arrived in a few days. Very rapid service. The sealer works great. Set up was easy, and included with the unit were the tools required to set up and maintain the sealer (a screwdriver, and a wrench for changing the oil). The tools were of good quality. Also included was a bottle of vacuum pump oil, and a squeeze bottle to fill the vacuum pump. I would suggest you keep a supply of vacuum oil on hand for oil changes, and in case you should need to add a bit. The instructions were good, however they seemed to be created for a few different units and some might be confused. The sealer worked great, with no problems. I have already sealed over 100 lbs. of meat, along with some other food items. I sealed some soft pretzels, and after a little trial and error had them packaged with little or no crushing. The sealer meets all my expectations. One negative comment, but nothing to impact my 5 star rating. As received the box was beat up, and it had been torn open on one side. Examination of the unit showed no dents or scratches. When I was setting it up, it was noticed that the sealer bar had been damaged (apparently in transit). The tape over the heating element had been abraded, and there was a small dent in the heater element. The sealer still worked fine. I contacted WebstaurantStore by e-mail on Saturday, and I had a new sealer bar on its way to me on Mon. Fantastic customer service. I would purchase another VacPac-It sealer if the need ever arose, however I see this one lasing a long time. I would recommend this sealer to anyone looking to purchase a chamber vacuum sealer.     I had seen a chamber style sealer in action before at a friends house and wanted one for myself for quite a while. This is hands-down better than a normal (non-chamber) style sealer, and the cost of the bags alone is going to pay for the machine in short-order. The machine is very quiet as others have mentioned and it required just a quick set-up by removing the rear panel to fill the oil reservoir. I am at altitude, 4,400ft so I did play around with the sealing times a bit. It takes 40 seconds or so per bag, but I will be getting the filler plates to help with the overall time to seal. If you want to impress your friends at your next party, throw an empty aluminum can in a bag and amaze them with the vacuum crushing ability of this machine! As far as delivery, mine arrived on a Saturday just one day after I placed my order!
    Got it right on the second try. Thank you WebstaurantStore for correcting a problem very promptly. As many have mentioned before, shipping is very fast. Got the first unit within two days. It's oil cap was cross threaded at the factory and there was oil all over the unit and inside the packaging which had soaked into and discolored all the decals. Despite the undamaged, high quality packaging the teflon tape on the seal bar was torn, which indicates to me the damage was done in china, not in shipping. I contacted WS and they had a replacement ordered for me. It too only took two days to get here. So far i have only done a few test seals. So far it seems fine. so, take care not to cross thread the oil cap. as far as the filler plates WS offers for this unit, don"t waist your money. I have submitted a review on that page with details and thoughts...
    I had used other vacuum tools at home for use with Sous Vide and storage of bulk purchased meats. I was never completely satisfied with the results I received from the products used. I finally purchased the VacPak-It VMC10OP chamber vacuum and couldn't be happier with it. I regularly purchase larger cuts of meat on sale and am able to divide into smaller portions and store for longer periods now. I also purchased 4 mil 10" x 13" bags and am glad for that as well. Using the thicker bags I did not get bone punctures in the backs. I can also boil stored foods to reheat when I get home from a busy day at work. I do consider this a large purchase for home use, but I don't have any regrets with the purchase I made.
    This product works great and doesn't take too much room. Great for those who have a smaller space to work with. You can store this product away easily.

    butchered my own beef this machine was a great time saver. worked it non stop for 4 hours approx. 200 bags only one unsealed but that was due to a sharp bone that cut the bag. wish that I had went with 16 inch machine for bagging bigger roast but no complaint here. {great sealer for home owner!!!}
    Awesome machine for the money. This is my second chamber sealer. First was larger and not the same amount of vacuum. it gave up working. I go this machine, added the oil and it works. Quicker vacuum process, Shorter seal time with far better results. Previous machines the sealed back would inflate or seal would fail no matter the amount of heat or seal time. This machine is has yet to fail in sealing a bag. Also bags retain vacuum even in freezer. The vacuum is much stronger. Like the fact the lid auto opens when completes. I look forward to many years use. Thanks for a great affordable product.
    So far I am very pleased with this machine. It seems well built and very high quality. Especially for the price compared to competing models. I have probably packed at least one hundred pounds of meat in individual serving packages and several gallons of soup for individual servings. It is the perfect beginner model of chamber vacuum. It does not have all of the options some of the other brands have but it is an extremely capable machine. I have no complaints so far and would recommend and purchase again.
    bought this a few months ago to replace an ARY vacuum sealer that failed. this one seems much better quality and works without issues. will wait to see how it holds up over time
