I have two regrets. 1) I did not buy this sooner. 2) I did not buy an extra for gift around me. Different brands give this knife a different name: sausage, tomato, bagel, serrated utility. For me, this is my kitchen's grunt. I want to preserve my wonderful bread knife's fine edge for bread only (Wüsthof Classic 4151), and postpone sharpening of my chef knife by not putting it to cut stone-hard stuff like melons and squash. This knife fits the bill. Anything nasty in the kitchen goes to that knife, and it becomes fun. This, against watermelon, is so good it is almost laughable. The Mercer Renaissance series is in comparable to other classic knives. It costs a fraction of the price. What's the catch? Some say not the same quality of finish.
