What we are looking at today is Microplane’s, professional, gourmet, paddle style, stainless, fine tooth grater. If you’re looking for a handheld grater that will give you the most diversity of use, this might be the one. It is well-built, it feels good in the hand and allows multiple methods of use. It can be used braced against a cutting board or set directly over a bowl or a pot. It also works just fine freehand. I find it works well for grating spices, such as cinnamon and nutmeg. You can grate ginger and garlic and it works well with hard cheeses and of course it’s fantastic for zesting citrus.
