This recipe makes 4 sloppy joe's.
4 classic steaks, thawed and finely diced
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2/3 cup each of white onion, green bell pepper, and celery, finely diced
3 tbsp. serrano peppers, seeded and diced
2 heaping tbsp. garlic, minced
1/2 cup brewed coffee
1/3 cup plus 1 tbsp. each of Carolina, spicy, and smoky BBQ sauces
1 rounded tbsp. BBQ rub
1 tsp. each of dark chili powder and ground cumin
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
4 brioche buns, lightly toasted
Cook the onion, bell pepper, celery, serrano pepper, and garlic in oil on medium heat in a large nonstick skillet until soft, about 10 minutes. Add the diced steak, coffee, BBQ sauces, and spices and bring to a simmer. Cook for 30 minutes, stirring regularly, until an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Divide the sloppy joe's mixture onto the buns and serve!
