AvaTemp 4 3/4" Tube Refrigerator / Freezer Thermometer

The thermometer works great for reading temps. The suction cups do not stick to any surface in the refrigerator, nor do they stay attached in the grooves meant to hold them in place. The clips designed for wire racks would work great if we were living in the 80s when wire racks were used in refrigerators.

This thermometer has too much variance on reading. I have been temp logging our walk-in freezer, and placed 3 of these units in different corners of the walk-in. When I checked the temp, I found them reading different temps. To see if they were reading the same, I put all three side by side in the same corner, next to the coil. When I checked the following morning, I found each at a different temp: 0*F, 4*F, and 7*F. If I was only using the third unit and a health inspector checked it for temp, we would get flagged for the freezer not being cold enough. I purchased a digital thermometer for a more accurate reading, and it is holding at -6*F. If you need a very accurate reading, I recommend getting a digital unit.

We recently purchased two of these refrigerator thermometers to replace the ones that came with the fridges in our food truck. We tested the accuracy with a laser thermometer and a probe thermometer, and they are accurate. The only downside with this type of thermometer is when they stop working, you cannot calibrate them, you just have to toss them. But you cannot beat the price! I recommend buying multiples to keep inside all of your refrigerated equipment so you have peace of mind that your equipment is working smoothly!
