Knowing how to clean and maintain your Avantco slicer is essential for extending its lifespan! Be sure to wear protective gloves when cleaning your slicer.

For best results, use our meat slicer safety cleaning kit. First, set your blade thickness to 0, and use a gentle scrub pad on the cleaning wand to wipe the blade while the slicer is on. Now, unplug your slicer and close the gauge plate. Remove the product tray, slice deflector, and center plate to clean them separately.

Next, use the Avantco blade removal tool, wipe down the exterior, grip the blade and clean the front and back with Formula-D degreaser. Then mist QuikSan sanitizing spray on the machine. You can also use LubriQuik on the table slide rod and end-weight slide rod to keep them moving smoothly.

In addition, you should sharpen the blade every 2 weeks. To do this, loosen the bolt on the built-in sharpener. Turn the sharpener 180 degrees so it rests over the blade, and tighten the bolt. Turn the slicer on, and press the rear sharpening button 1 minute at a time. Once it’s sharp, press the front finishing button to smooth the edge. Then simply turn off the unit, return the assembly to its original position, and tighten it into place. Your slicer is now ready for use!

Picking out the right commercial meat slicer for your business is an important choice. That’s why we’ve broken down the key factors to consider when shopping for the one that’s right for you. First, consider how frequently you plan to use your slicer. For light duty work, about an hour or less per day, an entry level slicer will work fine. The next step up is our mid-tier models, which offer more power and durability for several hours of use per day, at a price point affordable for most businesses. Finally, premium meat slicers are the best of the best, in terms of strength, durability, and consistency, giving you unmatched power that will stand up to constant daily use. Next, find whether you need an automatic or a manual slicer. Automatic units move product back and forth against a blade for safe and efficient high volume slicing. But for the average deli or sandwich shop, a manual meat slicer will do the trick. These units are probably what you’re most familiar with, requiring an operator to manually slide products across the blade for slicing. Other factors to consider when shopping for a meat slicer include blade size, horsepower, and ease of sanitation. We offer models with various blade sizes and power options, including many that are NSF listed. If you’re looking for more deli or butcher shop products, take a look at our selection of food paper wrap and deli take out containers.

This slicer is used every day, not the biggest blade at 9" but perfect for my needs. Great safety features and vey quiet to operate, Slices everything I need without any problems.
This is the meat slice machine that every restaurant should have! Very satisfied with this product. It is very durable and did it job very well.
Avantco SL309 9" Manual Gravity Feed Meat Slicer - 1/4 hp is a solid tool. We are happy to have this. It is reliable and still works well for us.
This manual gravity feed meat slicer is at an incredibly great and affordable price. For what you pay, this works just fine at slicing up meats.
We were looking for a small size gravity meat slicer, to replace an old Berkel. This one works perfect but don't like to cut cheese. Not the easiest to clean, but the blade protection that is delivered with the machine aloud to take the blade safely off the machine. For the rest quality/performance/price ratio are perfect.
The job that this does is amazing. For that portion, I give it 5 stars. But, the black plastic "pusher handle" is POORLY AND CHEAPLY manufactured. If you screw it tight on the slider tray, the little plastic threads inside the handle strip right off and the handle won't stay on. The black plastic handle screws on to a metal screw...so, plastic screwing on to metal wasn't the most brilliant design. The Webstaurant Store wanted to ship me a new plastic handle... Geez, the thing only weighs a few ounces. The shipping charges are a major rip-off. Instead, I took the old handle, along with the tray framework that the handle screws on to, down to a local metal fabrication shop. This will now last a lifetime, I got stainless steel.

Great slicer, it is small and works well, also comes with a sharpener. We use this all the time and it has been a great little slicer
This slicer was purchased after we had owned a Hobart for 13 years. We wanted something light duty and affordable so we went with this and have not been disappointed. Does the job for slicing meats and cheeses for a few hours a day 4 days a week.
Very nice product. i recommend it. It handles well heavy duty tasks, easy to handle and the size is good. Easy to clean as well
I've had this slicer for about 2 years. Never had any issues. We use it daily to cut meat and cheeses. I would for sure buy again!
Was uncertain before buying this product because always hesitant to buy a product that is expensive but so happy we went with this brand! slices the meat really well and is easy to clean.
I am very impressed with this slicer. It is light weight yet tough - I have sliced cooked meat, cold-cuts (pepperoni and salami) and vegetables (tomatoes, onions).
This slicer is fantastic for small, medium and large operations! We use a series of these in all of our operations! FANTASTIC PURCHASE! I would recommend for sure.
So far so good. This slicer seems to work as well as the Hobart I've used in the past. It is manual, but if you are slicing most meats, especially delicate meats like roast beef, you need to be at the slicer anyway. It simply removes that temptation to set it on auto. I have a couple complaints, it could be easier to clean, but none the less, the slider comes off and the blade cover does too, so the only difficult place to clean is right behind the blade. We'll see how long it lasts. I'm sure it won't be as long as a hobart, but for this price point, it can't really be beat.
decent unit for small operations or mobile food vendors. Bought this 2 years ago and still works good for my needs with no real issues. Some areas are hard to clean but overall straight-forward product.
This slicer is great for our small food truck and other low volume operations. The blade easily slices meats however is not powerful enough for cheeses. I would have given it five stars but it is more difficult to clean than higher end models and it could be nicer it was not angled so high for the slice.
I use this great machine to slice my beef. It has thickness setting that allows you to choose the right size for your meat. I use the spray to wash the machine so its relatively easy to clean
This slicer works great, and is the perfect size for a smaller operation. The blades come apart to make cleaning easier, but there are some nooks and crannies that can be a little difficult to clean.
I bought this slicer to make my life easier... unfortunately, it has done the opposite. It is very difficult to clean - even though I spent the extra money to get the cleaning kit. When slicing it spits product out the sides and the top that get caught up in the blade... truly a mess and truly messy. DO NOT BUY.

Lowest rating we have given a product. We researched slicers before purchasing this one. It was the same size blade, with a bigger motor than our last one. We use it for two fully cooked sliced meats and potatoes for chips. That's it. Not even 2 hours a day total. First of all, the tray was smaller than our old slicer with the same blade size, so we had problems slicing our brisket. We made it work, but it was a thorn in our side to start. Fast forward 3 months, the blade starts slipping so we have our equipment company come look at it. The motor is shot. Really sucks, I haven't even started the claim process yet, we had to have a slicer that day so I found one local and bought it, but even with the great price we got and the average use that all the onsite guides told us that a medium duty product would work it's just dissappointing to deal with the hassle. Even if I do a warranty claim, the biggest hassle was the small loading tray, and I already have a replacement. I guess it can be a back up. Read Less Read More
