In general, melamine is not microwave or oven safe. You can use a commercial dishwasher to clean your melamine items; however, top-rack only is recommended for residential dishwashing units. Tgis is a 10 and a half inch plate. It is perfect for the main dish. I love the water lily design on it and not to mention the price
