Can this booster water heater replace a primary water heater?
No, it is not designed for that purpose. This unit should only be used as a secondary water heater.
Hatco MC-11 480/3 Details
The Hatco MC-11 Mini-Compact electric specialty booster water heater provides water at 180 degrees Fahrenheit for hot water sanitizing or point-of-use dispensing. The heater features a stainless steel tank with a storage capacity of 3.2 gallons and a fast recovery time. Made with a stainless steel front for aesthetic appeal, the other sides of the heater are powder-coated silver-gray, and the bottom and legs are black.
The water heater includes four 6" legs to get it up off the ground, fiberglass insulation to reduce heat loss and a temperature and pressure relief valve in case the water gets too hot or pressure reaches dangerous levels. The water heater also features a low-water cut-off system to prevent element burnout due to a low water condition.
Water Quality Requirements: Incoming water exceeding 3.0 grains of hardness per gallon (GPG) must be treated and softened before being supplied to the booster heater. Water containing over 3.0 GPG will decrease the efficiency and reduce the operating life of the unit. Product failure caused by liming or sediment buildup is not covered under warranty.
