Customer questions about this product

Does free shipping apply if this item is shipped to a residential home?

This item is only eligible for free shipping to business or commercial addresses. Please contact our Customer Solutions team prior to placing your order if you have any questions!

How can I best maintain the non-stick qualities of this item?

To prevent food from sticking to your non-stick surface, we recommend lightly coating it with oil and wiping off any excess with a soft cloth or napkin. Applying sprays on non-stick coatings can cause food to stick more readily than using a fat or oil. Sprays can leave a glue-like coating, often missed during the cleaning process, which will begin to build up and cause foods to stick. Additionally, metal utensils and abrasive cleaners should not be used with non-stick surfaces to prevent scratching and damaging the coated surface.

What is one standard “rice cup?”

A traditional Japanese “rice cup” does not equate with a standard US measuring cup. Instead, one “rice cup” is equivalent to ¾ cup or 180 mL. Each cup is approximately 1 serving of rice.

What's the ideal ratio of rice to water to use in this rice cooker?

Different types of rice require different ratios of rice and water to cook properly. If the manufacturer's recommended ratio produces burnt and/or dry rice, increase the amount of water used.

After a few weeks using it, I can say it cooks nicely. The non-stick insert is great! The insert can still get gunked up though, so we use rice nets, which make washing a breeze. The biggest disappointment -- the reason for my giving 4 instead of 5 stars -- is there's no on/off switch. The only way to power it completely down is by unplugging it, which sucks because the outlet for this unit is located way back behind a heavy soup/sandwich prep refrigerator. There is some kind of switch in the bottom of the unit that automatically gets depressed with the weight of the insert and top. But it doesn't fully power the unit down. Even without any weight on that switch, the warming light stays on and the heating element stays warm. This unit definitely needs a manual on/off switch. Now I'm going to have to go out to buy some kind of extension cord with a foot switch on it. :(

Takes the guess work out of cooking rice and oatmeal. Just follow the directions and forget it. When the item is done cooking it automatically goes to warm. Easy to clean with just soap and water, don't put it in the dishwasher wash by hand and only use soft clothes otherwise will get scratched and stuff will stick and burn,
