In general, melamine is not microwave or oven safe. You can use a commercial dishwasher to clean your melamine items; however, top-rack only is recommended for residential dishwashing units. I manage a bowling center with a full sports bar. We use these plates to serve appetizers and certain entrees and they work great. So far we have been using these plates for just over a year and they have held up amazingly well to the constant abuse they get. The only negative is they aren't microwave safe, but that hasn't been a big deal for us. These plates are fairly expensive, but they look great! When we serve the customer something on these it's always memorable for them. I would recommend these plates to anyone looking for a durable yet elegant looking plate.
