Extremely disappointed as the reviews for this item are so high. This is the second can opener I have purchased from Webstaurant and both have been miserable. This opener worked for the first 2-3 cans perfectly. However, now the gears do not even turn the can. This came recommended from a Webstaurant Customer Service Rep for being so great especially with #10 cans. I would give 0 stars if I could. I was recommended to reach out to Edlund directly in hopes this is a defective item. I will update if possible.

This was sold with a "best" tag on it. I took Webstaurant's advice and purchased what seemed to be a bit of a lux option. I liked that the blade could be changed without a screwdriver. nobody needs to ask me for a tool and leave it somewhere else. But, they said it was the best so I bought it. I am preparing for a health inspection so I figured I would purchase a few new blades so that the botulism police wold be happy. No restaurant supply company has this blade in stock. NOBODY. anywhere. I need to buy a full assembly with gears or another part that my two moth old can opener absolutely does not need. I thought it might just have been us but now that I read the reviews it seems that we have the same issue. I have only ever used Edlund but i needed a replacement and it has been a stuggle ever since. The gears do not engage enough to roll the can through unless you get lucky or dent the can trying. Its embarassing to see my staff resort to the backup household can openers.

We were hoping for a better product from Edlund. This is clearly a defective unit, the gear will not engage with the can, so it will not turn.

The Edlund can opener works like a champ when you pair it with the base that is sold separately for some reason. Pricey but works great.
Have always used Edlund can openers but not happy with this one. Sometimes the gear doesn't grasp the can but as you turn it it hits a spot where it does. So it goes for a little then it slips then it catches etc.

Edlund can openers are the cream of the crop when it comes to commercial application can openers. We've used them for years in our establishment and they hold up very well to repeated use year after year.
Very nice! It's exactly like I hoped it would be, I forgot to order it with a stand but I think I will make my own for it. I worked in professional kitchens, it gave me a strong appreciation for commercial quality equipment. They tend to last forever, unlike many of the things sold to consumers these days. Buying numerous in-expensive stores quality manual can-openers only to have them fail within 30 days of purchase was the final straw. This is last can-opener I will ever have to buy, I Highly recommend them!
Edlund is the best. One thing i will have to say is that you need to make sure that you only need this one part. I ordered the base without realizing that myself.
