Dexter-Russell Turners

Dexter-Russell Turners

When running my own restaurant every day and competing on nationally televised food shows, having the right tools is the most important thing. Dexter manufactures more than just knives. They have a great variety of turners, servers, and spatulas, too. I work all day at my restaurant and a professional-quality turner is one of the most important tools in my arsenal. Dexter turners and servers flex where I need them to flex, and it's built into each blade so I can be quick and efficient. Like the Dexter knife, the handle on the turner is designed for comfort and control, so I get a perfect result whether I'm flipping a piece of fish or serving pie. The blue, high-heat handle can withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees, so it keeps working under the toughest conditions. It has a quality, stainless steel working end and the Dexter Edge that makes turning a breeze. Dexter turners and spatulas bring real innovation to every chef's kitchen. It's the quality, stainless steel, precise flex points that make turning and serving a breeze. That's the Dexter Edge. Dexter turners and spatulas are comfortable in your hand, so you can work for hours without experiencing wrist fatigue. When you hold a Dexter knife, you have nearly 200 years of cutlery knowledge in the palm of your hand. Dexter is the industry leader because of a commitment to producing quality, American-made knives that perform day in and day out. As a pastry chef, good spatulas are some of my most important tools. Dexter baker spatulas are flexible so I can scrape the mixing bowl and spread the batter without switching tools. I really love the versatility and appreciate the thought that goes into the precise flex points. Dexter spatulas are ground to flex so they can form to the shape of my mixing bowl so I can quickly and efficiently remove frosting from the bowl. Since they are professionally heat treated, the return from flex to straight every time and they make frosting a breeze! Baking is my life, my livelihood, and my passion. I choose tools that keep up with me and help me stay sharp and flexible. In my kitchen, I choose Dexter. Dexter is the largest manufacturer of professional cutlery in America. Our Southbridge, Massachusetts factory has produced the finest cutlery and developed technological advancements since 1818. We take pride in every knife we make and that's why each knife we produce is tested for quality and performance before it reaches your hand. Customer questions about this product

What are the benefits of using a carbon steel turner?
Carbon steel turners are flexible enough for easy maneuvering, but stiff enough to flip heavier foods. To prevent your carbon steel turner from rusting, we recommend oiling and seasoning it like a cast iron skillet to remain rust free.

Looking for the ultimate turner for your grill or restaurant? This Dexter-Russell Traditional wood-handled turner offers performance and value for commercial use and combines durability and efficiency into one great product! Featuring a natural beechwood handle, this turner is perfect for the traditional chefs who prefer the warmth and feel of a wooden handle. The handle is secured to the blade with brass compression rivets for ultimate sturdiness. Exceptional at holding an edge, this turner's long blade is perfect for turning cakes, flipping burgers, pancakes, and other grill menu items. Its high quality blade is made of carbon steel, which delivers higher performance than stainless steel and is preferred by experienced chefs. However, carbon steel is not rust-resistant and requires special care and cannot have food left on the blade for long periods of time, especially acidic foods. Precision ground, this carbon steel blade provides just the right amount of flexibility for even easier handling of food.

This turner ensures high-quality performance. however, if not taken care of properly, this turner's long-term functionality may diminish. Your turner should be hand washed only in mild-to-medium strength detergent, and towel dried immediately afterward to prevent rusting. High heat and chemicals from the dishwasher can wear down your product over time, and the wooden handle will eventually fade and split if put in the dishwasher. You should not soak your product for long periods of time or allow it to remain submerged for cleaning. Also, do not use any chlorine or bleach products. Finally, refrain from letting your product soak in aluminum pans or stainless steel sinks to prevent Galvanic action from occurring.

Take your next step with Dexter-Russell and invest in this wood-handled turner today!

Warning - We would not recommend buying this turner if used in a commercial environment. We purchased this for our commercial kitchen and the blade rusted within a few days of use. It is now so rusted that it will need to be returned or discarded. To minimize rusting, this item would need to be towel dried promptly after every use and after washing. Towel drying does not meet Minnesota Department of Health Food Service code nor the codes of most states. Therefore, this item is not properly designed for such environments.

We use these to stir large volumes of sauces and they work great. Dexter Russell is a great brand with quality products. I imagine this product lasting a couple of years with daily use.

I usually buy Dexter-Russell Turners, but in the Stainless Steel / Walnut Handle version. I gave this version with the mild steel a shot, but found that in the *pretty extreme* environment of my restaurant the upkeep for the mild steel was its downfall. These are nice for working a flat-top, and hold up decently, but in time the leading edges start to deform, and if you don't discard them in time, could chip off. The biggest issue came when exposed to moisture, the handles swelled up a little and unless coated in oil, they will surface-rust. For a cheesesteak shop, I'll have to stick to the Stainless/Walnut version.

This is my go-to turner. The steel has a perfect spring which is firm but yields when you want it to. The edge is not knife sharp, yet it slices through meats when pressed and keeps its edge. In a word, the turner is versatile in the best ways. The photo shows the wavy lined in the carbon steel which provide its resilience. The handle is not dishwasher safe and should be treated like a cutting board. I use mineral oil periodically. Despite some fingerprints here and there, the thing stays in like new condition despite heavy use.
