AquaTuff Thermocouple Troubleshooting

AquaTuff Thermocouple Troubleshooting

To check that your AquaTuff thermocouple instrument is working properly, follow these simple instructions. First, turn the instrument on by pushing the power button. "On" will appear on the screen, quickly followed by "Prob". "Prob" means that there's no probe attached to the instrument. Next, insert your thermocouple type-K probe. Make sure the plus and minus signs on the plug line up with the plus and minus symbols on the connector. Insert the plug into the connector. Look at the screen. If the screen still displays "Prob" then your probe could be damaged. To test the probe, pull the plug out of the connector half-way so the prongs are showing. Take a metal paperclip and place it across the connector so it touches both prongs. Look at the screen. If the room temperature is displayed, then the thermocouple is working correctly. This means that the probe may be damaged or broken. If the screen still displays "Prob" when the paperclip is placed across the prongs, both the thermocouple instrument and the probe may be defective. To confirm that the probe is damaged, use a different thermocouple instrument and retest using the paperclip method described previously. Remove the probe from the AquaTuff thermocouple instrument. Turn the unit off by pushing the power button.

Customer questions about this product

What is the best method to replacing my probe on this unit?
If the probe needs to be replaced, the unit can be sent back to factory and the new probe will be calibrated to the unit or it can be replaced in the field, but would not at that point be calibrated to the unit. It will have normal +/- accuracy of 1F depending on the probe which is very close to the .9F from the factory.

Food safety is a necessary concern in any food service business, but with this Cooper-Atkins 35132 AquaTuff Wrap&Stow Type-K thermocouple, ensuring that products are stored, prepared, and held at the proper temperatures is easy. Able to handle an incredible temperature range of -100 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit or -73 to 260 degrees Celsius, this thermocouple will be the most versatile and useful thermometer in your kitchen. Not only can it measure scalding temperatures of boiling liquids, but it can also read the temperature of products in your deep freezer.

The thermocouple boasts incredible accuracy of + / - 0.9 degrees Fahrenheit (+ / - 0.5 degrees Celsius) when in ambient temperatures from 68 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 30 degrees Celsius). Thanks to its sensitive DuraNeedle probe, it's perfect for use with thick, dense meats, though versatile enough to work well with thinner solids, semi-solid food products, and liquids. In the case of probe replacement, the unit does not require re-calibration, meaning that you can continue using it right after inserting a new probe. This is due to the Total System Accuracy used for the initial calibration, so you can be sure that each use yields an accurate reading.

Boasting a large LCD screen with 0.1 degree resolution for maximum visibility, the unit is both easy to use and easy to read. It even includes the convenient Wrap&Stow design, which enables the cable and probe to be safely wrapped around the handheld unit. This feature ensures that the instrument is neatly contained, making storage and transport easier than ever.

Featuring a durable ABS housing, the thermocouple is IPX7 waterproof rated, guaranteeing outstanding longevity, even in the toughest kitchen environments. Plus, it includes a toggle that allows the user to choose between either Fahrenheit or Celsius temperature readings, catering to the preferences and diversity of your staff. After 10 minutes of inactivity, the machine automatically shuts off, which helps to preserve battery life. It includes 2 AAA batteries that are easily accessible through the twist-open hatch.
