What is the advantage of a pan with an open rim over one with a wire rim?

The Chicago Metallic 40950 is the thicker and tougher cousin to the classic kitchen workhorse 40850. The open bead design makes it more sanitary since nothing that get stuck in there without you being able to clean it out. The thicker gauge take a bit more time to heat up to temperature but also retains heat longer. It's a excellent quality pan from an great manufacturer. It's a great addition to any kitchen for when a standard gauge sheet pan might not be tough enough such as baking or roasting at higher temperatures.

I ordered two of these pans. Both came with slightly dented corners, though this should not affect their function. The metal of both pans appears odd, with stains that look like some chemical was dripped on them. There were also many small scratches on the metal.
The shipping packaging was very haphazard...The box had been cut and taped to accommodate the pan, but did not provide good isolation from damage. I am disappointed in this purchase and in these pans.
