It is always nice to have fresh cracked pepper and salt for plating. This set is reasonably priced and also looks very nice too. We have used a variety of salts and peppers in our mills. We did find that very soft pepper does not work too well so we just do not get that kind of pepper anymore. It would be nice if each had a mark on it for pepper or salt but its not a big deal.
