I am not very impressed with these 1-gallon containers. We wanted something NSF to keep specialty beverages in to quickly pour. We were previously using gallon milk jugs quite effectively, we just couldn't clean them. These Carlisle containers are very sturdy but quite difficult to use. The toggle on the lid is very hard to open, at least when new. I am a big guy and I had to hit them with my fist to open them - I usually couldn't do it with two thumbs when it was sitting on a table, and it hurt my palm to press on them hard enough to open them. Okay bottle but terrible tops. They are hard to screw on and impossible to close. We got 4 total and they all do not close properly, leak, or require an extreme amount of force to close.

Purchased many of these a few weeks ago hoping this pricey item would mean that the container was good, come to find out that this overpriced item needs a better grip, especially on a gallon jug should be better considering the weight its carrying, second, the extra colored tops it comes with doesn't fit properly making it unable to shake with the liquid inside. Even the black tops it originally comes with where a failure, and after a few weeks of use the cap started to not line up with the opening.

These are difficult to open. We can’t get the lids off. I feel like we’re missing something with these. Are they supposed to be this difficult to open?

the containers are great, they sell well, but Note that if they are cold ( not frozen) there is a chance they could break, I had one for three days, and it fell from our prep table and cracked, wish it was a little softer plastic that is able to with stand a fall

Sure they're a little hard to open in the beginning but they certainly won't spill! It will take a little finesse to get the cap screwed on but that ensures a good seal. We use them for cold brew and our chai blend and the solid rectangular base keeps them up-right on the cooler shelves. Love these!

These work well, and as long as you don't lose the top, they are sturdy and have a long life span.
