Avantco CPT-54 54" Countertop Refrigerated Prep Rail with Sneeze Guard

DO NOT BUY. We received TWO defective units back to back (one being replaced under warranty). Both units' thermostats were set to 36 - 43 (first unit) and 36 - 50+ degrees while the product page and manual both state 33 degrees. The cold wall method of cooling is already not aggressive in its thermal capacity, but combined with maximum setting of 36 degrees makes it completely insufficient for commercial applications. Your products will rise to 45 degrees when held overnight, covered, and lid closed. During operations (and within the operating parameters of a maximum ambient temperature of 90 degrees) your products will rise to 50-52 degrees in most slots. This entire product line should be removed from Webstaurant's catalog for this kind of build quality - you can literally achieve better results with buckets of ice. We've never seen this kind of shockingly poor build quality right off of the pallet. Do not buy, stay away.

Buyer Beware! This is unfortunately a problem with ALL AVANTCO products at Webstaurant. They are unable to contact the manufacturer. If you need parts you will be told to go to a local hardware store and figure it out yourself. The hinge pins for the lid on this particular product backed out from normal use and are missing. I contacted Webstaurant via live chat and they told me they have no contact information for the manufacturer. There was a bizarre and uncomfortable avoidance of addressing the broad issue of not necessarily an unwillingness to help but an inability to help. I felt deceived but didn't feel like it would be productive to make that accusation, however, I cannot comprehend being a primary supplier for a product with no ability to reach the manufacturer. The circumstances are unsettling regarding any Avantco product so again, Caveat Emptor, consider yourself warned and informed.

We have been using this countertop refrigerated prep rail for about 7 months. We like it so far, it makes it easy to keep our food at correct temps. Ice does accumulate in the well because there is no drain, but not a big deal.

This thing is great it has no trouble keeping cool even when kitchen temperatures are over 100°. It is also a great space saver we did not have room for a traditional refrigerated prep rail in our food truck this was the answer.

This has been a truely great investment to our salad bar. We are able to serve the guests from behind the sneeze guard. Everything stays cold around 38°F. We actually bought two!

ADORE this product. Highly recommend! I have a Food Truck, and utilize this EVERY event. I have it set on top of my SS Worktop Freezer (that is also 4 feet long), which gives me space to make Sandwiches, Salads, Desserts, etc and quickly. Great for toppings as well. Uses so little amps, which is VERY appreciated.

Never reach intended temperature. set up at 35' F, but item temperature only 45-46. The further away from compressor the warmer the temp is. Even when we left it on overnight. The further right temperature up to only 55' F. Not good at all

this piece of equipment is revolutionary in our small kitchen, it provides us a great expo area where our dishes can be topped with fresh ingredients. highly recommend!!!!!

We ordered 4 of these units with different sizes and all 4 of them hold the temperatures around 50F+, even the display shows 40F (See the attached pictures). When we contacted the WebstaurantStore customer service, they told us that we overworked them, which we barely used. They are running away from responsibility as they also know that these are defective units.

Same as the other reviews, controller not programmed as described, parts are nonexistent, and the hinges for the lids are trash. Live chat cannot do anything for you on this Webstaurant brand refrigerator.

I got this prep rail for a food truck when I couldn't get a prep top cooler to comfortably fit. This rail was a real space saver. it fits perfectly on a 48-inch prep table. The table is 30-inches deep and there is still enough room to put down some cutting boards and use the table in front of the rail. It gets cold quickly, can fit various sized pans, and is pretty easy to operate. I would recommend it to anyone with a food truck.

works well, until a year and two months. I recommend the warranty extension. We got 14 months out of it before the temperature maintained was 58 degrees instead of 41. Was hoping to get more use out of it.

It's a nice looking unit. Easy to put together. But it is not properly holding the meat at 41 degrees. Can't get the meat cooled below 44 degrees. Seems like it freezes up. Ice builds up in the under compartment. I'll change this review if it is possibly a malfunctioned unit but it just doesn't cool to the food safe cooling temp required. This is even with the lids left on over night. During high traffic time the meat temp will rise. Its not as good as an actual food prep cooler.

Great little countertop unit. Been using for a year now and it makes prep/assembly so much easier and space effective

This unit is perfect for our popping boba bar! The boba looks so pretty and customers are very attracted to it. The unit keeps the temperature well and it's surprisingly quiet!

We purchased this well over a year ago - works great, keeps temp accurately and is easy to clean. This is a great tabletop unit for our line.

we bought this and not able to use no screws and no instructions . what a mess going place to place trying to find how to fix it . we try reaching out to someone and they hang up the phone at us . so I guess they don't care . we pay a good bit on this for what we are going through . don't recommend anyone to order. is best if you buy in store . very disappointed with the hole refrigerated .

I’ve been trying to dial this unit in for about a week now. I just can’t get it to keep the product in a safe temperature range. Food going in is 36°, after an hour it’s already at 43. I guess I’ll look for a replacement for this Item. Would not recommend

Been working for 2 years now

Cooler would not come on when I plugged it in. Pulled the cover off and found that the wiring was not complete and not plugged in. Fixed wiring and plugged in but compressor still won’t come on. Extremely disappointing

Well built, cools down rapidly and reasonably quiet. Easy to clean. Hard to beat for the price. This has been a game changer for our small shop.

Product works great for what we needed it for. Highly recommend.

Start Rusting after 3 months

This product does not work for us. We have tried it in 2 different locations in our shop and it is just too much of a pain. 1st it does not like to turn on or off properly. You have to do it 2 times to get it to actually do what you are asking it to do. Then the lid is held on with 2 tiny screws with nuts. I have put them back together multiple times as it continuously back the nut off of it and we have to find where it went. We have given up and just taken the lid off when in use and set it back on at night when we close. Because of the lid being off it does not keep things like cheese cold enough. Same as the other reviews. Hinges are absolutely a joke and fell off almost immediately. Does not keep product cold even in the environment recommended by the manufacturer. Rails for the pans are customizable but there are no detents at all so they slide all over the place if you're not careful.

We have not taken up the customer service issue with your office, but one of our two ordered units arrived damaged and unserviceable. We will be asking for a replacement unit. Our track record with Webstaurant has been excellent. We look forward to having our needs addressed, as in the past, to receive a new unit.

All of the parts fell out of the lid and now I am on here trying to figure out what replacements to buy. After spending so much $ already I am pretty frustrated that I even need to.

This product does not hold temperature. Very poor.

The first prep rail lasted less than 6 months. The replacement conked out within 6 months, but haven't called to get a replacement. We are not confident another replacement will work. We just want our money back so we an order another brand and not have to deal with something that keeps failing. Also, the company doesn't pick up the broken one, so you're left with a piece of junk to get rid of yourself.

Shipping went well! No issues turning it on. Blew cold air instantly. The inside seems more spacious than I thought, which is a plus in itself.
