American Metalcraft CSFP10 Details

This American Metalcraft 10" carbon steel fry pan CSFP10 with 1/8" thickness is designed to withstand the heat. Made with a high carbon steel percentage that allows heat to move easily through it, this pan comfortably maintains high temperatures. It also ensures that the pan will heat slowly to create a consistent cooking process from start to finish.

While perfect for searing and long cooking, this pan can also be used to brown, fry, or saute your products. Since it's specifically designed to withstand high temperatures, it's also oven, broiler, and induction safe. This allows you to conveniently sear steak, chicken, or seafood and then finish it off in the oven. This pan also features a sturdy riveted handle that connects at 3 points, making this a heavy-duty pan that's designed to last. The hanging hole in the handle also allows for easy, convenient storage so you can save space in your kitchen.

Made with natural, uncoated steel, the pan gains non-stick properties once it is seasoned. To season the pan, simply wipe the interior with a flavorless cooking oil and heat up the pan until the oil is hot. Then remove the pan from the burner to cool, and repeat this process twice to allow the pan to gain natural non-stick properties. Afterwards, hand-wash in hot water with a mild detergent and dry to ensure longevity.

Customer questions about this product

How is the top diameter measured in frying pans and woks, and how accurate is this measurement?

The top diameter is the measurement across the pan, from the interior of one side of the rim to the other. These measurements are approximate because many frying pans and woks have a curved upper rim, making precise measurement difficult. The standard naming convention uses top diameter, so while multiple brands may offer a 10" pan, there may be slight variations in size between each brand's 10" pan or wok.

My item arrived with a thin layer of oil. What is the purpose of this oil, and is the item ready for immediate use?

Some carbon steel pans and woks are shipped with a protective oil coating to prevent rusting before their first use. They should be thoroughly washed with warm, soapy water to remove the oil and then properly seasoned before use.

What's the difference between a riveted and a welded handle?

A riveted handle is connected by small metal pieces (called rivets) that are crushed between the handle and the pan body to attach them together. This type of handle is more common on copper and aluminum cookware.

For a handle to be welded, the metal must first be melted and then adhered to the pan body. This creates a strong bond that leaves little to no space in between, so bacteria and other food crumbs can’t collect and cause sanitation issues. Both are long lasting solutions for fry and sauce pan handles because they are durable and can withstand heat.

The grand bargain of the carbon steel skillet universe. 1/8" thick, ruler flat base, takes seasoning well, and heats as evenly as far more expensive pans. The 11" size is handy, because the 10"model is a little skimpy in the cooking area. That's good for use on small burners, but not so great for large appetites, lol. It is made in China, of course, but they know their carbon steel. The product is truly a carbon "steal".

The pan got banged up a bit in shipping but I was able to straighten it out. Adding silicone handle after a couple oven seasonings. Came out great.
