I do not recommend this shortening. I bought this shortening for the purpose of making american buttercream. Since it had positive reviews for buttercream I gave it a shot. I don’t know if it works good for frying or baking but I know for sure it’s not good for buttercream. It comes crumbly and I heated lightly like the reviews state to make it smooth. The issue begins once you add the confectioners sugar, it becomes a curdled mess, it’s like it fails to emulsify. I’ve wasted several batches of buttercream. I figure I might be able to smooth it on the cake and run a warm spatula to smooth it out but that fails as well. Buttercream made with this shortening can’t be colored because the color separates.
