I use this strainer when rendering down fats / grease for cooking. After frying a big batch of bacon, running the grease through this into a container for storage works wonderfully. It's big enough that it fits right on top of the gallon jug and can handle hot foods being poured into it. Its also very large which is handy because when you are juggling a very hot cast iron pan you want to pour it and be done with it, not start stopping 4 times when pouring stuff off. Very easy to clean too. Wish I would have seen this thing about a year earlier, would have saved me a few burned fingers.
