Vollrath 40950 Details

This Vollrath 40950 10" gravity feed slicer features a compact design that's ideal for medium-volume operations and small restaurants where space is at a premium, and can even be easily carried for catering events! It's great for slicing vegetables and processed meat up to 3 hours per day, allowing you to achieve precise and consistent slices up to 1/2" thick with the simple turn of an adjustment knob. Operation couldn't be any simpler thanks to a 25 degree gravity feed that maximizes productivity by reducing operator fatigue and discomfort, as well as a built-in sharpener that always keeps your blade ready for action.

The slicer's body is made of rugged, hard-coated anodized aluminum while the blade is driven by a 1/3 hp motor and a durable, long-wearing belt for years of reliable service. A proprietary non-stick coating not only reduces drag but, along with the removable carriage, also makes the unit incredibly simple to clean! This slicer requires a 120V electrical connection for operation.

This is a great slicer and is easy to use for most desired cuts. I wish there was a guard around the outside of the blade for safety while cleaning. I used to work in a deli for many years and there was always a guard even after removing the front plate. Needless to say, I cut my hand while cleaning this slicer but it was my own error. I will however be purchasing some cut resistant gloves to use for future cleanings. Safety first! Otherwise, this has been a great product and I am very happy with my purchase. Easy to clean too since there aren't a lot of creases and it breaks down well.

I have to agree with other comments on the knife guard. Most of the blade is exposed when the unit comes apart for cleaning. Just looking at it makes you want to put on gloves. Also, it's not great for cleaning. There are a couple areas where food can easily collect where the gauge plate attaches to the base.
