D-Link Tutorials: How to Access the Web Configuration of the DAP-2553 for the First Time
Hello, today I'm going to show you how to login to the DAP-2553 wireless AP through a web browser. To do that, we're going to go through a few easy steps:
Step 1: Connect an Ethernet cable directly from a desktop or laptop computer to the wireless AP's LAN port.
Step 2: You will need to change your IP address on the PC you're trying to login with, so your network has the same default IP address of the wireless AP. The default IP address for the DAP-2553 is 192.168.0.50. So we're going to change the IP address of the PC to be on the same network. To do that, we're going to come down here, open the computer's Network and Sharing, go to and double-click the local area connection for the wired connection. On the window that opens up, select "Quick Properties". Go to "Internet Protocol Version 4". Then, we're going to come down here and set a static IP address. For this, we're going to use 192.168.0.55. This should automatically update the IP below to 255.255.255.0.
Step 3: Click "okay", close the window, and go to your web browser. You should be able to log into your AP now, but just to be sure, let's test it out. In the address bar, type "192.168.0.50/" and hit enter. This will take you to the D-Link AP login page.
Step 4: To log in, type "admin" into the username box, leave the password blank, and click login. You are now in your 2553 wireless AP and you can start configuring.
