Hi, I'm Mitch from Town Food Service Equipment in New York. I'd like to thank you for your purchase of the Rice Master gas rice cooking unit that we supply. The RM-55 is seen here in its disassembled stage. I'd like to take this opportunity to discuss some of the features and benefits of this unit, as well as the care and usage that can help you in your daily life. Now, it's critical to know that this is a gas appliance and it is made for the cooking like. It must be under a hood. Let me explain to you some of the features and benefits of the gas rice cooker. It comes with a regulator that must be installed on the outside of the unit. This is a 6 inch water-column regulator and it should only be installed by a certified gas technician. This is the base which houses the pilot light, burner system, and many other small parts that complete the operation of the unit. There's a stainless steel cover that keeps debris from falling into the inner workings, but if you want it to be cleaned in the dishwasher, you can simply unscrew the 3 screws with a screwdriver. However, please remember that if you remove this portion of the base, it needs to be seated correctly. If it is out of balance, the rest of the unit will be out of balance and it won't cook the rice properly. Next, there is a base unit. We call it the shroud. The shroud is easily removable and can be installed quickly. You line up the holes, give a clockwise turn, and let it lock into place. When you want to clean it, simply twist it counter-clockwise, lift it up, and place it right into the dishwasher. This is an excellent feature for cleaning purposes. Inside the shroud, there is a cast-aluminum rice pot. It sits right into the shroud and your rice goes into it. If it is askew or sitting uneven, you may want to check the assembly and make sure that the stainless steel cover on the base is sitting correctly. Also, ensure that the shroud is sitting correctly. When the rice pot is evenly in place, we are almost ready to start the operation. Your certified gas technician should check for leaks to make sure that your system is going to operate correctly. At this point, I'd like to show you the stainless steel cover that goes directly on top. It prevents spillage, overflow, and also keeps the steam in the pot to help you cook the rice. Now we're ready to cook! Once everything has been installed, turn on the gas valve. It will allow the gas to flow into the system. When that's done, there are two buttons to the left of the valve. The first button creates the pilot light and the second button ignites the burner from the pilot light. To ignite the pilot light, press the first button down and look through the small window above the buttons to make sure that the pilot light came on. If not, lift up the red safety button and try again. This may take a few tries. It is very important that you understand that the second button never gets pressed unless there is a pilot light. When the pilot light is on, you can then ignite the burner by pressing the second button. It will take an average pot of rice about 18 to 30 minutes to cook depending on the recipe and the type of rice that you use. It is also important for you to remember that once the rice is cooked, the second button will pop up and you should let the rice sit for another 10 to 15 minutes so that the remaining moisture is evaporated. Now, let’s do some in-house troubleshooting. There might be a situation down the road where the unit is shutting off prematurely and not cooking the rice. Typically, that's the stem assembly that is located at the center of the machine and it can easily be changed with the use of a screwdriver. You can unscrew the 2 screws, remove the stem, and place in a new stem. There might be another situation where the unit is burning the rice and that's typically attributed to the bi-metallic sensor. To change the sensor, turn the rice pot upside down and use a flat-tipped butter knife or screwdriver to locate the indentation points of this horseshoe retaining clip. You can pop it out of this clip while keeping your hand over it so it doesn't roll away. It does have some spring action to it, so be careful. You can pop out the old clip and the sensor and clean it and dry it off. Sometimes it gets greasy and it has trouble reading. Now, you can place in the new sensor and the clip. You can push it down with the screwdriver. If it seems like you're going through a lot of sensors and you have to constantly change them, the issue might be with how you're cleaning the unit. It's important that when you remove the sensor, you wash the pot and make sure that it is clean, dry, and free of grease. To read the temperature properly, the sensor needs to be clean and free of debris. Thank you for watching this video and I hope that this helps you!
