PolyJohn Comfort XL Portable Restroom Assembly

Hi I'm Jamie and I'm here with Mark and Tom. We are getting ready to assemble a Comfort XL unit. We have all our parts laid out on our table ready to go. All these parts will come in a small parts bag when you order your unit. We have, again, everything we need. A handle, rod, spring, and miscellaneous fasteners, a door latch, TP dispenser, and then we have a couple drills here. We have a drill with a 13/64 drill bit, and also a drill with a 1/4" drill bit. We have an impact wrench with a 7/16 deep-well socket, a slotted screwdriver, a hammer, locking pliers, and a rivet gun. We are using pneumatic tools, however if you don't have air power available for you, you can simply use a ratchet with wrench and also a regular hand rivet gun. We are going to start with the assembly of our unit by placing a side panel on top of a table like this. If you don't have a table available like this, anything will do that will raise the side panel up to about this height. It's about 36" to 42" in height. We have our corner extrusions, and we will attach our corner extrusions to our rear panel. All three side panels are the same, we are just selecting this one to be our rear panel. We are going to fasten our corner panel to our side panel by placing it over the top as such. And then we are going to rivet the center one with a PC000100 rivet with a CP000106 back-up washer. We are riveting from the side panel towards the corner panel. All the rivets will be done in this manner to keep things neat in appearance. Always do the center holes first. The center holes are slightly smaller than the other holes. We just did the one side, and now we are working on the other side panel. Again, this can be the same procedures as we just did with the other one. Corner panels onto the side panel. Riveting the center hole first, and riveting from the side panel side to the corner side. We are going to assemble, which will be our rear panel, to the corner extrusion using the same PC000100 rivets with back-up washers. Again, riveting from the side panel side to the corner. Now, lining up all the holes- locate the center hole and rivet that into place. Locate your base assembly, and slide that into position. Then lift up your side and corner assemblies, place that onto the base as so. Position your front assembly onto the base, making sure the jam goes into the corresponding slots and rivet that into position from the front side towards the back side. We have our PC000175 screws here, 174 screws here. The PC000140 lock nuts and the PC000123. Using the holes that are drilled in the jam, we are going to drill 1/4" holes into the base-around. Using vice grips, clamp the jam to the base around, flush up the edge of the jam with the side of the base-around. Insert your PC000174 (the shorter bolt) in the top hole and use your longer screws for the bottom two holes. A washer and a nut over the end and fasten into place. Clamp the jam into position, drill two holes through, using the two holes in the bottom of the jam as a drill guide and on the top of the base-around, located about 3/4"- 1" from the top of the base-around. Tighten securely but don't over-tighten. Obviously this roof can go in any direction on there, so it's very important that you place the vent stack hole over the corner where the tank will be. Using a 16/64" drillbit, locate the center dimple of the roof and rivet it in place with a back-up washer on the inside. While Tom holds the side panel into position, I am going to rivet these center holes using a PC000100 rivet with 106 back-up washer on the inside. Locate the dimples on the corners, install your screens into the top of the side panel as shown, with the ribs of the screen facing the interior of the unit and the wider rib end of the screen, facing the center of the side panel. Drill the center hole out. Keep that in position with the rivet then drill your other 2 holes using a 13/64 drill bit. We are going to finish fastening our roof down with PC000100 rivets while Tom holds the backup washers on the inside of the unit. Notice that we have a slight gap between our door and our jam. What we're going to do is shim underneath the door jam in this area, and you'll see our gap is tighter and we can finish fastening our roof. We are now going to install our T.P. dispenser on the rear panel. And Mark will be on the outside with a PC000100 rivet. Using a backup washer on the inside of the T.P. dispenser, fasten into place. We have all our fasteners ready to go to assemble our side panels to out base-around. We have our PC000139 hex head bolts, and we put on PC000121 fender washers over the head of that. We have our lock nuts ready to go and our 123 washers. Using a drill with a 1/4" drillbit, drill through the base around and in through the side panel. Now Mark is on the outside inserting the PC00139 screw with fender washer for the outside of the unit. We're gong to repeat this for all four corners. On the inside, he is drilling 1/4" hole to the center of the recess, and placing the bolt with fender washer on the outside. Now using a deep-well socket, 7/16, fasten everything down using 7/16 wrench on the outside. What we're doing now is we're marking our location for our grab bar rails. We're measuring 30 1/4" to this bottom hole, and then 32 1/4" to this hole. We're going to do a hole right here- add 32 1/4" from the base-around up. We're marking the holes here at 30 1/4" and 32 1/4". This hole is just located at 32 1/4", one at 30 1/4" and another one at 32 1/4". That one is a 32 1/4". Well, we just marked the holes. We're going to drill 13/64 holes in those spots. Hold the grab-bar up into position, centering it over the holes that we just drilled. And then, from the outside, drill into just the inner wall of that grab-bar. Rivet in place with a PC000105 rivet, with a PC000106 back-up washer behind the head of the rivet. Going to install a toilet seat on the tank. Seat installation is very standard - just like a regular toilet seat. We're going to put the tank side down in the unit and line with this edge of the rib. Measure up from the base around, 19 1/2", so about right there, and make a mark. About even with the height of that third rivet, down from the bottom of the side panel. On the rear panel, down from that line straight basically right in the corner there, make your mark. Make sure the tank is placed evenly on the base, then drill your holes into the side panel and the tank using a 13/64 drill bit. Rivet in place using a PC000103 rivet with a backup washer on the inside of the tank. We're going to install the vent stack by slipping it up into the roof and down into the recess. Then using a 13/64 drillbit, drill though the recess of the vent stack into the tank and the vent stack. We're going to place using a PC000117 rivet, and secure in place. We have all our parts ready to go to assemble the rest of our front panel. We have our grab-bar handle and our spring retainer, our door-check cable, rotary latch, drill with 1/4" drill bit, Philip screwdriver, a slotted screwdriver. Drill out the center of the rotary latch with a 1/4" drill bit. We are going to fasten our rotary latch in place using a PC000122 bolt, with PC000121 fender washer behind the head of the bolt and then a 123 washer on the inside with a 140 lock nut. Place your rotary latch into position. Next we're going to install the door-check cable using door-check cable with the three 105 rivets.Very important that the bracket of the cable is placed as shown. Insert the non-cabled end of the spring assembly into the hole of the door and place your spring-retainer clip into the holes and pivot into position. Rivet that in place with two PC00105 rivets. Lining up the spring with the clip, hold the clip onto the edge of the door jam using the holes in the clip as a guide, drill 2 13/64 holes into the door jam. Go through two walls of the door jam. Rivet in place with a 104 rivet. Using the dimples on the door as a guide, locate the door handle on the edge of the door so that the end of the handle is just on the edge of the door. Using a 13/64 drillbit, drill through the door and through the steel door pillar. Rivet in place, using a PC000102 rivet. Snap your covers in place. Using the claw of a hammer, place it over the cable end of the spring. Close the door, open the door, place vice grips over the cable coming out, close the door again, place the cable into the slot, and then release the vice grips. We are going to fasten the door-check cable to the door jam using a PC000104 rivet with a 1/68 washer and a 106 washer. Place the cable over the end of the rivet, then the one- the large washer and small washer, and rivet in place. Insert 104 rivet into the door jam, where the cable was going through then hold the door close. Install the TP rod into the side of the TP dispenser going through the other hole and then place the lock over the end. Hope you enjoyed this assembly video of the Comfort XL unit. Hi I'm Jamie I'm here to tell you about our Comfort XL units. This is a larger style unit used to aid in the use of someone that may be handicapped. We have a twin sheet thermo-formed door with a great rib structure. It increases strength but also decrease weight to minimize door sag. Nice grab handle and indicator latch right here. And you can see the bottom of that door is lower down than other previous models this minimizes debris entry in the unit but also increases privacy. We open up the unit and see we have our waste tank in the corner that has a capacity of 33 gallons. We also have a rear circulating flush model that has a capacity of 22 gallons. We have our grab rails, located on all three sides. Also a toilet paper dispenser which comes standard, 2 rolls. You see we have ventilation on all three sides so there is plenty of air movement through there to keep the air fresh. On the top of our door we have a door check cable but this unit is also available with a door closer which slows the door closing. We have a rotary latch and spring. Rotatory latch has a large handle for easy access for disable persons. This unit features handles located on all four corners and all the sides for easy maneuverability. The dimensions of this unit are 62" wide 62" from front to back and 91" tall. Hi, I'm Jamie, I'm here with the PJN3 unit and I'm going to show you how to replace the screens in your side panels. What we are going to need to do this is a drill with a 13/64" drill bit, a vice grips, and then a rivet gun to reinstall the rivets with a person to help with this process. So I will start by going on the inside and taking my vice grips and clamping on to the inside of the rivet. Now the reason I am doing this is when I drill the rivets out from the outside of the unit the rivet could possible just spin and spin so in order to keep that from happening what I'll do is take the vice grips and clamp that on to the rivet and then I will go on the outside and drill this out. Now taking my drill with my 13/64" drill bit. Place your drill on the center of the rivet and go ahead and drill that rivet out. Now you hear the vice grips fall to the ground and we will repeat this process for the other 2 rivets. Now as your heard that vice grip falling, it is best to have a person on the inside helping you with this by holding that vice grips. You are also going to need a second person to help with the re-installation by holding the back-up washers. We are going to start by taking these screen out now that we got the rivets drilled out. Now if you are replacing just the one screen you only have to drill out the two rivets that are holding that screen in. To show we are going to pull both screens out. For re-installation you can see there is a wider part and a narrower part of the screen. We are going to take the wider part and place that toward the center of the side panels. And these just slide in as so. It's a little tight fit but not too bad which is good. And we will line up our center hold like this by overlapping the two screens and now we will reinstall the rivets. Now we are going to reinstall the screens using three PC000100 rivets and 3 PC000106 washers. Have somebody on the inside holding the washers while we rivet from the outside. Now I'm using a pneumatic tool but this can be used with a hand-rivet tool as well. Just rivet from the outside going in and the person on the inside will push the screens over the rivet, place the back up washer. And simply rivet in place and we will do the same thing for the other two rivets. And that does it! Hi, I'm Jamie and I am here to show you how to replace the spring assembly on your PJN3 unit. So if we open up the unit we will see inside we have our PC000800 spring assembly. Now the internal components of the spring assembly are not really replaceable, it is advisable to replace just the whole assembly it makes it so much easier. So where we start is basically by taking the spring assembly out of the unit, just simply push it back into the door like this, feel the retainer clip, and then pull this old spring out. Now we have our replacement spring assembly PC000800 and we are going to like we took out do the same thing we are going to put it into the door first and then we are going to push the cable through and the key is to guide the cable through the hole, taking a hammer with the claw on it and a vice grips we are going to grab the end of the cable and pry it against the door jam like that I'm holding the door with my foot and then clamp down on the cable like so, then we close the door slightly we will be able to guide the cable into that clip and you can see it releases the tension on the vice grips, release it and you are in business.
