Customer Q&A Ask a Question

Should I buy an air-cooled or water-cooled ice and water dispenser?
Air-cooled combination ice and water dispensers are the most common choice. They're more energy-efficient and use much less water than a water-cooled model. Unless you are replacing an existing water-cooled dispenser or are operating under very high ambient temperatures, you probably will want an air-cooled dispenser. It's a great idea to check what your existing dispenser is before placing your order so that the installation of the new one will go smoothly!
Why is a water filter important?
A water filter is a worthwhile investment to make because it will have a huge impact on the long-term performance of your new ice machine. A filter is essential to prevent the build-up of mineral deposits and sediments within the ice machine.
Are there any restrictions on the water used with this unit?
This unit is intended for use in applications with less than 400 mg/1 total dissolved solids in water (either naturally occurring or treated with reverse osmosis). It is not recommended for use with softened water.
Why is a water filter automatically added to my cart with this item?
The use of poor quality feed water may void your equipment's warranty. Therefore, it’s important that your water be filtered to the highest quality and a compatible water filter will be included when you add this piece of equipment to your cart. You may remove the filter from the cart prior to purchase.
Will this ice machine meet my business’s ice demand?
Every business type has unique demands for ice. If you have any questions about how much ice you’ll need please reference our Types of Ice Machines buying guide.

7 Reasons to Use the Follett 7 Series Ice and Water Dispensers

Learn the seven major reasons why you should choose a Follett 7 Series ice and water dispenser for your office or guest area!

Follett 7 & 15 Series Water and Ice Dispensers

Looking for an economical alternative to bottled water in your break area or office? The Follett 7 &15 series water and ice dispensers are a stylish solution! These dispensers are 60% more efficient than cube ice machines and use 75% less water.

Follett 7 & 15 Series Ice Machines

This video outlines the unique features and benefits of the Follett 7 and 15 series ice/water dispensers, including drain-free operation, agion-coated surfaces, and models available in countertop, undercounter, and free-standing styles.

The 7 Series: Follett's sleek, compact ice and water dispensers featuring Follett's exclusive "Chewblet" ice. We offer seven reasons to choose our ice and water dispensers for your refreshment needs.

The first reason to choose a Follett 7 Series is its compact size. At only 17 1/2" tall, the countertop model is the only ice and water dispenser in the industry that is able to fit on a counter under standard 18" mill-work cabinetry. This innovative design allows the 7 Series to be placed in most locations without having to take out or move cabinets. And since it is only 14 1/2" wide, the dispenser won't take much counter space. Additionally, all 7 Series undercounter and freestanding models comply with ADA high, low, and side reach requirements. Countertop models, installed on 35" counters, also comply.

The second reason to choose Follett 7 Series ice and water dispensers is the fact that they do not require a drain. Any water that melts in the storage bin drains back to the ice maker and is re-frozen. This gives you greater flexibility in placing your dispenser since you are no longer limited to areas with drainage capabilities. Water in the drip tray is not cycled back into the machine. When the 20 oz drip tray is full, an indicator lights up and the machine stops dispensing. The tray can then be easily removed and emptied, similar to a typical water cooler. Then you simply replace the drip tray and can continue to use the dispenser. For proper operation, the 7 Series dispenser must be used with incoming water containing less than 400 mg/l of dissolved solids and less than 200 mg/l hardness.

The third reason to choose Follett 7 Series ice and water dispensers is sanitation. These dispensers allow you to dispense without touching the ice. There are no scoops, so no hands touch the ice. This greatly reduces the likelihood of contamination, giving you clean, pure ice. Compare the Follett 7 Series undercounter dispenser to a typical open bin ice maker. When you reach into the bin to scoop ice, your hands come in contact with the ice, and this poses a risk of contamination. You might find some people dragging their dirty cups through the ice or even storing their lunches in the open bin. The 7 Series undercounter model can be a direct replacement for many undercounter open bin ice makers since it fits in the same footprint as many existing scoop-out dispensers.

The fourth reason to choose Follett 7 Series ice and water dispensers is efficiency. The Consortium for Energy Efficiency rates the 7 Series as a tier two highly energy efficient ice machine. They are as much as 60% more efficient than similarly sized cube type ice machines. All 7 Series machines also have a standard sleep mode where the display goes dark and the ice maker stays off during periods of inactivity to save more energy. The 7 Series is also very efficient in terms of water consumption, using up to 75% less water than small cubers. This is especially important in communities with water supply concerns.

The fifth reason to choose Follett 7 Series ice and water dispensers is aesthetics. The 7 Series design elevates dispenser aesthetics to an exciting new level. The high quality stainless steel exterior with black, gray, and chrome accents give this dispenser a sophisticated look. The soft, contoured design, blue accent lighting, capacitive touch user interface, and quiet operation make it the perfect complement to almost any decor.

The sixth reason to choose Follett 7 Series ice and water dispensers is their antimicrobial product protection. All the major ice and water contact components are treated with Agion, including the bin, water reservoir, drip tray, and interface panel. Agion is an antimicrobial technology based on elemental silver, reviewed and registered by the EPA, FDA, and NSF, and approved for food and water contact. Through the release of low levels of silver, Agion silver ions inhibit microbial growth by disrupting cell functions in bacteria, yeasts, molds, and fungi. This antimicrobial additive does not affect the water or ice itself, only the treated components, helping the components to stay clean.

The seventh reason to choose Follett 7 Series ice and water dispensers is the top-quality refreshment. "Chewblet" ice is a soft, chewable nugget that people like to munch on during and after the drink. It is a favorite of many customers. In fact, independent studies show that "Chewblet" ice on average is preferred by over two to one compared to typical cube-type ice, and that popularity rises to 90% in some areas of the country. 7 Series also has optional water filters to ensure all ice and water you get from a Follett dispenser is pure and clean.

Available in freestanding, undercounter, and countertop models, the 7 Series is a great addition to any office or guest refreshment. Contact Follett for more information.

The 7 and 15 series are premium quality ice and water dispensers that offer unique benefits to enhance any facility break room. With their sleek, compact design, these dispensers are available in countertop, under counter, or free-standing models to complement your refreshment area with ice and water.

The 7 series, at only 17.5 inches in height, can fit on top of a counter under a standard wall-mounted cabinet, yet store 7 pounds of ice and produce 100 pounds per day. This is enough to provide over 100 daily servings of ice, or serve about 25-30 people.

The 15 series, which is only 22.5 inches in height, houses the same capacity ice machine, but can hold 15 pounds of ice, providing over 150 servings of ice per day. Cubelet ice is preferred 2 to 1 over cube ice because of its chewable nature. It can be used to make iced coffee, iced tea, or any other beverage. This increased selection can help create a more nurturing work environment and contribute to better hydration. The 7 and 15 series were designed to operate without a drain, making it possible to install just about anywhere. All you need are water and electric utilities.

A removable, 20 oz. drip tray captures spills, while any ice that melts inside the machine is refrozen. Unlike open-bin ice machines, these dispensers allow you to get the ice right into your cup without ever touching it. All key components in contact with ice and water are treated with agion, an antimicrobial agent that helps prevent potential growth on these surfaces. When compared to similar-sized cube ice machines, the 7 and 15 series dispensers are environmental and economic alternatives to bottled water, with the added benefit of ice. They can be 60% more efficient that cube type ice machines, and use 75% less water.
