No need to use the strainer. I've been looking for one of these strainer/skimmer utensils and this is exactly the size I need to strain food from oil and from liquids. Sturdy, well made, and easy to clean. Great value for the money. Ships quick and securely also.
The mesh on these skimmers is easy to wash, and the frame is very stiff so they do not bend out of shape while using. I wish it has a bit more of an angle, but they work great for pulling food out of the fryer.
