It's a shame I can only give it 5 stars and not more. Super simple to use and easy to clean. I had first used the KitchenAid mixer with sausage stuffer attachments and it was such a pain I almost gave up making sausage, but using this product was like a dream come true. Very sturdy and perfect for the home user!

I love making sausage, and this little case is a great option for small batch making. The price is really good, and it is sturdy

So far used it twice and I'm loving it, it is so easy to use and clean, I get 15 lbs of sauces made in@ 15 minutes

Comparing this side by side to my other brand, it looks almost identical with the exception of the gearbox housing. Once you crank it, you'll notice the biggest different between the 2 unit. The Backyard Pro is much clunkier and not as smooth. I noticed the input shaft appeared to be plastic, so I pulled the cover off the housing and found ALL THE GEARING IS PLASTIC! I find the description stating "aluminum gearbox" to be a bit deceiving. Yes the gearbox HOUSING is aluminum, but the gear set is not, which is the most critical component of the GEARBOX. That's like stating you have a stainless steel knife, that's actually make of a stainless steel handle with a plastic blade. I just used this sausage stuffer for the second time. I have to say I was looking forward to making my deer kielbasa with this sausage stuffer again. I don't know how the high end stuffers are but this is excellent for the 30 lbs. of meat I need to stuff into casings. I was so impressed with this after 2 years of owning it and using it I had to come back here and write a review. Compared to other stuffers I have used like my Kitchen Aid with a grinder and sausage stuffer for years to a Cabelas grinder and stuffer I used for a couple of years, I regret not getting this from the start. With other methods I used I would always need another person where with this unit I do it all by myself with ease. From set up to clean up this sausage stuffer is a blessing. I will be looking foward to using it again next year or maybe even earlier. You will not regret buyint this sausage stuffer.

Perfect addition to my new sausage menu. I started off with the KA attachment for stuffing….about gave up. Using the butcher boy was Super easy to load and clean. My only con was the larger stuffing tube had a burr on the end making the casing difficult to side on. Once I de-burred the tube it went much smoother. Highly recommend.

Made stuffing my venison burger into bags so much easier than by hand great product.

This unit seemed like a great quality stuffer, until 30% of the way through pressing some snack sticks when the secondary gear that the handle connects to stripped out as it is making contact with a primary vertical gear, which is steel.

I've had this for over a year now, and have produced a few hundred pounds of sausages through it. For the price, it is a good, reliable sausage stuffer. As others have noted, it's a pretty blatant knock off of the LEM unit. The gear action is ok, if not a little clunky. The base is a little flimsy, so I'd suggest mounting this to a piece of butcher block or something. The canister can sometimes shift while stuffing, and the plunger ends up dragging and makes the bottom 1/3 of the can really hard to crank, which is a pain. I haven't identified exactly where the issue is, but I suspect it's related to flexion in the light gage base. The manufacturer does not offer any replacement parts for this unit. Pretty good stuffer for the price. I only make 20-30 lbs of sausage each hunting season, so this product was right in my price point. Its a LEM knock off, but about half the price, and for that price savings I think you get a comparable product. My biggest issue with it is the gear box is a little bit clunky/unrefined. All the gearing is aluminum (obviously not the best material for intermeshed parts). So its not as smooth of a cranking motion as I would like it to be, but again, I spent half the money compared to the all steel versions. Backyard Pro Butcher Series SS-5V 5 lb. Vertical Manual Sausage Stuffer Package had sustained damage during shipping, resulting in damage to item inside. Called customer service, very happy with how they responded. After unboxing and viewing stuffer, I don't believe I would have purchased it if I could have looked at it first before purchase. While I am sure it will do what it is suppose to, I was somewhat disappointed, but at this price point I guess you can't expect too much. 1. The hex shaft that the crank handle connects to is not metal, some sort of plastic. 2. Travel of the screw rod is not smooth, even after lubricating threads. 3. Feels like the gears inside are made of plastic. Will have to see how well it performs.
