Backyard Pro MT-31 Butcher Series 31-Blade Meat Tenderizer with Jerky Slicer Blade Set, Two Legs, and Clamps

This review will be in two parts. Part one is for the tenderizer itself and part two will be for the motor attachment. Within these parts I will review its assembly, ease of use and my final thoughts. I am currently using this tenderizer to tenderize chicken breast for fried chicken cutlets and grilled chicken. The breast measure around six ounces per piece and I only run the chicken though once, otherwise anymore would shred the chicken. I use it once a week to process around 40-80 pounds of chicken so I decided to get the tenderizer with motor combo thinking it would make the process faster. I got this for my husband who bought himself a new smoker. He wanted to make jerky for himself (and for our dog who loves plain chicken jerky). He asked for something for Christmas that needed to be clamped on to our countertop to work. I got this instead because we have granite and I didn’t want them to crack if he clamped it too hard. I had to add the jerky module on as it didn’t come with the unit but it was reasonably priced. He had it out and was using it the same day. It is smooth to turn and nothing has gotten stuck. I will say that he didn’t know to pound the chicken the first time and there was no way it was going through but he learned! This is heavy enough to stay on the counter without a clamp and easy to clean up. Home cook approved.

Assembly was very easy. Was up and running in 20 minutes. The jerky blades sliced Venison like butter. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. Excellent price considering both the tenderizer and jerky slicer were included. Shipping was lightning fast!

This machine is the exact as the bigger brand jerky's slicer and meat tenderizer I have both also you do not have to remove the motor to remove the blade.

Admittedly have not tried the item however with comparing to similar items, the Backyard Pro provides the best value at less expense with the added bonus of duel cubing blades and jerky blades. This appears to be the exact same machine as the more expensive versions with a different label. The packaging as great and it arrived a day early. The only complaint if I had one is the assembly instructions. This took more time because the different sized screws do not notate where they go. It was not complicated but trial and error took more time than it should have. This is the only reason for 4 stars. I am excited to get the opportunity to try the machine yet I am dreading dis-assembling and cleaning it. I am hoping it is dishwasher safe as it doesn't state.

This slicer works great and is easy to assemble and clean. I highly recommend this product. I bought this unit mainly as a jerky slicer. This Backyard Pro has a 5/16" slice thickness, where most of the competition are either 3/16" or 1/4" cut. A thicker cut slice makes for a much better jerky eating experience. The 5/16" slices dehydrate to about 1/8" thick and stay more pliable than brittle: Makes for easier chewing and more savor. I also like that there is a motor kit available in case I decide to prepare more jerky at a time.

Was wanting something that really tenderized the meat. The blades are too deep and cut through the meat.

We run about 20lbs of chicken breast a day through this. Works great. Even after losing the handle. Just noticed I can buy a new handle. This a must for chicken

We bough this three times. Each last less than a year. It is not durable. It always ended up missing some of the screws. By the end of its life, the motor is still working good but the blades and everything else bent and not usable.

Useless, the meat get stuck inside the blade no matter what you do. Itried both raw meat and cooked and both not work well. Honest review

Motor mounting hole were not tapped and when trying to tenderize a 5 oz pork tenderloin…. The gears in the motor started skipping and the plastic housing started to separate. Very poorly made. Would not recommend

The blades and housing seem good. However, the stand is crap. The holes for the housing to attach to the stand are not true - only 3 of the 4 holes for attaching to the legs actually line up. The plastic base is cheap and will crack under strain. Expect to have to fab up a replacement for the legs/stand after a while.

The only thing I really don't like is that because the chute is plastic the holes strip very easily. They also don't have a replacement part for the chute so makes it harder to use because the combs will not stay in place as well because we can't put the chute on since the screws fall out of it.

I bought this for tenderizing flank steaks in a restaurant. It worked great for a little bit but all the parts stripped out fast. This would be good for home use but not for consistent use in a restaurant.

This device is even better than described. It is easy to use, very sturdy and performs exceptionally well. So far, I have used it to tenderize beef and chicken multiple times. In all cases the tenderization improved the palatability of the meats. Clean up is easy as well. Thanks.

I found a sale on round steak and used this product to turn it into minute steaks. It was awesome! Had bought an attachment for a KitchenAid mixer and this was no comparison! Easy clean-up and made short work of 20 pounds of meat. The motor was great; didn't even bog down. Can't wait to run some venison through it!
