Winco 8" Chinese Cleaver with Wood Handle

Is this the best cleaver in the world? No, not by far. But for the price and basic application (not using it through bones), this is a wonderful knife! No rusting, holds an edge well, and perfect for cutting dough for noodles or chopping cabbage and more. I've had this knife for years and as long as I know where/when not to use the knife (do not use this knife with substantial bones) then I'll have this for years longer.

A noticeable weight that is great for cleaving. Thick metal which I think will be good for continuous use and maintenance sharpening.

This is the cleaver in countless Chinese households and professional kitchens. You cannot beat the value of the knife. Once you use a Chinese Chef knife, you will never go back to those regular American chef knives. I spent many years in China and this sort of knife seemed unwieldy at first, but once you get used to it, you really can't use any other knife without feeling something is lacking.

We love this Chinese style clever. It has a great weight to it. The thick spine allow it to easily get through chicken bones and other hard items. We use them every day.

For the price this can't be beat! I got this cleaver as a starter cleaver and so far I've been very pleased. It's not the sharpest knife right out of the box but it is still sharp enough and has enough heft to get the job done. This is great for someone who isn't familiar with using a cleaver and wants to see how it would fit into the kitchen routine.

A good knife. Mine came plenty sharp and with no visible damages. It seems sturdy so far, and can easily cut tough veggies or do hand minces of meats.

This is not, I repeat, not for daily abuse. But it is, for the price, a fun knife for someone's first cleaver. It is one that we issues to kids who do not have their own knives when they hire on. Honestly with as little as I use a cleaver I wouldn't mind keeping this on my own knife bag at work and bringing the other home..

This cleaver is exactly what I needed. I know a lot of Chinese cleavers are light and mostly used for vegetable work, but this one is heavy enough to get through a chicken back bone which is all i need.

This Chinese cleaver is great! It has nice weight behind it and comes very sharp. I have used this to cut vegetables and meat with no issues. Would recommend to anyone looking for a cheap and reliable cleaver!

This was a wildcard buy for me. Didn't expect anything good at this price for an American store but was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy this cleaver is. The wooden handle is comfortable and it has become my daily driver over normal chef knives. Comes sharp and hasn't lost its edge after all this time.

WOW! This is one heavy cleaver. I love the weight and heft to the blade. I was a bit skeptical on the brass fitting connecting the blade to the handle but it seems very sturdy. My only complaint is the handle. It is a bit short. That being said, this is my first cleaver so perhaps they are all short? Either way I really like it!

This is an everyday "beater cleaver" that can perform butchery and even chopping duties with ease. I've worked with these for years and, for the price you can't beat it. A lot of people purchase higher quality metals etc but I find most people barley keep these blades up to par.

Very nice for medium duty chopping like veggies and small bones. It stay sharps and feels comfortable in the hand. It’s made with quality at a great price.

This was exactly as advertised. It was very sharp out of the packaging. I've used a couple times for vegetables and I love it. I highly recommend for veggies, and thin bones.. not for heavy duty chopping.

I would have to say that this is the best meat cleaver that I have ever own. It feels good in your hand easy to use and holds a sharpness vary well.

We dont use it often; but when we do it is perfect we use it mostly when butchering whole chicken. Would definitely purchase this again

This was a shockingly pleasant surprise when we pulled it out. It was brought in for a newbie cook to round out his first knife roll. He felt he needed a cleaver, i didn't think he would use one so we snagged him this. It wound up being his favorite of the bunch. And I don't blame him. The weight on this thing is great! The wooden handle felt better in my hand than some of my knives and it came plenty sharp. While it does not hold an edge well the thing is a breeze to kept sharp...you will just be honing a little more often. I was kinda sad to see this one walk out the door with him when he left.

This knife is big and heavy, which is a good thing when you're cutting all sorts of prep for a busy restaurant day or a large banquet. The knife is inexpensive, so when it wears out, I'll just replace with another one or something similar; you let the knife do most of the work and you just guide it along as you cut stuff up.

same knife costs more elsewhere. but here if you only buy just one knife plus shiping for a good price. good for cut everything in Chinese restaurant.

The handle is comfortable and sturdy. I've had it for about 6 months and so far it's still very sharp and cuts through any vegetables I've used it on. It's definitely a great deal!

Very sharp knife right out of the box. Wooden handle feels great in your hand. Blade might not be the best for big beef bones but cut through poultry and pork bone with ease.

This cleaver is perfect if you need to break down large products. Easy to keep sharp and it has a nice handle grip. Of course this is all price relative so think to yourself what you need it for.

The Cleaver was much bigger than i thought. I was pleasantly suprised by it's heft and integrity. I first used it to carve up some chicken and the cleaver had no problem cutting through bone. Perhaps one of the best cleavers I have owned.

This 8" chinese cleaver is worth the investment. Why? well because 1. it is cheap in price. 2. its very durable and fits nice in the hand 3. its just heavy enough to take the effort out of breaking bones and fabricating meats. Id have to say, Ive bought a few very expensive knives so far and yes they were worth it, but this cleaver along with a few other knives that i bought from WEBstaurant.com are in my opinion, worth every penny and a great bargain without cutting quality!!!
