Customer Q&AAsk a Question

What is the difference between a disher and an ice cream scoop?
Dishers are designed to control servings of soft foods, such as mashed potatoes, applesauce, or steamed vegetables. Although these are not meant for harder foods, such as ice cream, they are versatile tools that can be used for portion control in both prep and service applications. Ice cream scoops offer the durability necessary to scoop hard, frozen foods, such as ice cream. Both are traditionally sized by the number of scoops per quart that they can produce; however, they may also be sized by the number of ounces they hold. Dishers feature an easy-to-operate thumb press or squeeze-handle design, complete with a quick-release component that ensures no food is unintentionally left behind in the scoop. Ice cream scoops on the other hand, do not feature any movable components.
Can I use this ice cream scoop with a dipper well?
Yes, we recommend that the temperature of the water in the dipper well be at least 140 degrees Fahrenheit at the beginning of each use. Do not put this scoop in boiling water or heat it to more than 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

We use these every day after introducing meat balls to our catering menu and food truck. After a year, still going strong and cleans up like it was new.

Craig B. from Parsnipity Enterprises on 01/31/2018

This works great for scooping out mini cookies at our bakery. It is quite sturdy and is a great priced item. We would definitely recommend this item.

Kevin T. on 10/13/2021

I use this to make mini cookies and they turn out the perfect size. easy to clean and does not hurt my wrist from squeezing

Billie J. from Daniel C Tolner on 01/12/2021

excellent press thumb disher, size is just perfect if you want to make quick and small cookies. Handle is a lot more comfortable than regular plastic ones.

Nathalie B. from Mermelada Caracas on 07/08/2020

I love the size of this. It is small, but perfect for small cookies, chocolate truffles, butter or sour cream, and so many other things. Its durable, and the handle is nice to decrease fatigue for long duration of scooping.

Nate K. on 02/25/2020

I love this little scooper. I use it to fill my mini muffin pan or to make perfectly portioned size cookies. It works best if the dough is not too stiff. You can scoop the cookies first and chill the whole pan if the recipe calls for the dough to be chilled.

Debi M. on 05/28/2018

This is my all time favorite scoop for all types of cookies. It works perfectly no matter how stiff the dough. I do have to give it a squirt of vegetable oil spray, like Pam, when I do my soft chocolate cookies, as that dough is particularly sticky. However, the time savings and perfectly proportioned results make it worth this extra step. Overall, I highly recommend this scooper. I own several in this size so the grandkids can help !

Roberta S. on 11/28/2017

Perfect for scooping out the perfect sized cookies for my baking needs. It can hold its own against a strong thick dough or pretty much anything else you can throw at it.

Ben T. on 08/27/2017

Great for scooping small amounts of batter to place into a pan. It is the perfect size for mini muffins. It is easier to control than a thumb pressed scooper.

Sara H. on 08/25/2017

Love this disher! It is the perfect size for small cookies or for scooping batter into mini muffin tins. I find that the palm squeeze dishers are much easier to use than the thumb press ones, and these don't wear you out as quickly either.

Jerred P. on 08/22/2017

Huge time saver! We purchased these in a couple sizes and they make portioning cookie doughs a breeze. Made well and holding up to heavy use.

Earl T. from Big Indian Farm on 08/16/2017

It was ordered for scooping butter for baked potatoes but it didn't work for this very good. We still can use it for other things.

These get heavy use in our kitchen. Using for portioning all of our various condiments. they are sturdy and dependable and we will continue to order them.

This small scoop is a great item to have in a bakery I used it to make crinkle cookies, they came out looking great, uniform sized Just what i needed

Raizy R. from Sweetart on 02/06/2017

I use both the #60 and #50 Round Squeeze Disher for perfectly shaped cookies. I have only used it with soft dough, and had no issues with breakage of the mechanism. Other good uses for this size - forming meatballs, mini crabcakes, and other canapes.

Valerie A. on 01/26/2017

have had no issues with this and the handles are working correctly after a year. will re order when I need to and cost is great

Thomas H. from Great Lakes Grinders on 01/22/2017

as long as you use them for lighter duty jobs, these dishers are great. however, be careful with thicker products as it could knock the gear off the track.

Mark N. on 01/06/2017

These have been great for portioning out not only cupcake batter, muffin mix but also chicken salad! have this in multiple sizes and find it very easy to use as well clean.

Sam M. on 10/26/2016

Perfect round squeeze handle portion scoop. Perfect for cup cakes and other batter. Getting the same portion every time is great. Was offered at a real nice price

Russell H. from Russ' Sub Shack on 10/17/2016

A very sturdy #60 portion scoop. it feels like it is up to the task at hand whether it s a sweet or savory application.

Michael S. on 09/06/2016

High quality. Use mostly for cookie dough - occasionally ice cream but a little small for that...in my opinion. Washes well in the dishwasher. I love it.

Katie D. on 07/19/2016

Great scoop for butter or sour cream. All around durable and resistant material . Good to use for portion control. Easy to handle and keep clean.

Damien D. on 03/07/2016

Bought this scoop for cookies however the blade is not heavy duty enough to release the dough. I could not find a way to tighten the scoop.

Diane L. from SOD on 03/01/2016

Perfect size for a cookie scoop. I own various sizes of this disher portion scoop but this is my first choice when making cookies. Price is much cheaper than any online stores or local grocery stores.

Youngjoo P. on 01/05/2016

I use these dishers for everything. This particular size is perfect for a small cake pop or for portioning cookie dough. These are not particularly heavy-duty, but the quality is commensurate with the price and I expect it to last for quite a while. I would recommend this scoop and/or purchase again.

S. S. on 01/05/2016

I used this to make cookies- which are cute and little. It is sturdy and has held up well. My hand did get tired 200 cookies in though.

Miriam D. from The Blue Bandana on 12/31/2015

This scoop was awesome for Oreo Truffles and cake pops for the holidays. It was easy to use, so much so that I let my daughter assist without worry over portion control.

Jataen R. from Sweet 1603 on 12/28/2015

Great little portion scoop. I use mine to scoop equal amounts of cookie batter in to the baking sheets for same size cookies. Can be use for so many more things. It is made of sturdy durable material.

Brenda M. on 12/02/2015

We own the #40 #50 #60 and #70 sizes. This one we use for our next to smaller applications. The quality on these are fantastic and should last forever.

Shane L. on 06/04/2015

The # 60 round squeeze handle disher portion scoop - .56 oz is a great buy for making that perfect muffin or cupcake! The high quality and low price make this scooper a best buy!

Diane W. from Zest on 04/22/2015

The quality of this scoop is okay nothing mechanically wrong I just don't like the feeling when I use the scoop to scoop cookie dough.

Marianne C. from Local Foods Bakery on 03/08/2015

Great scoop for butter or sour cream. All around durable and resistant material . Good to use for portion control. Easy to handle and keep clean.

Fernando B. from MEP on 02/16/2015

Very nice scooper. Feels durable and has a nice finish. Medium + size. I think I would also look to get one size smaller and that should work for most of what I need.

Rodger T. on 02/08/2014

The #60 stainless steel disher is the perfect size for those bakers making a lot of cookies and need exact size. Can be used by either hand.

Thomas B. on 12/05/2013

A great scoop which helps keep the portion control in line for the kitchen. The springs on these are heavy duty and don't break as often as other disher scoops. Highly recommended.

Jeremy M. on 08/08/2013

It's a nice stainless scoop for a nice price. The mechanism for the inside of the scoop sticks out a little from the top, but that just may be mine; and, it doesn't effect the performance any.

Katy M. from Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church on 08/18/2012

As usual, this disher is made of high quality. Heavy to hold (but not too heavy to work with) this is the scoop you want to use if you're trying to fill a mini muffin pan to the TOP - as in, you have a recipe that does not rise so you want the batter to go to the top of a standard mini lip. The other disher, the 100, is good for mini cupcake recipes that rise.
