Traditional conveyer toasters and pop-up toasters use intense raiding energy from heating elements to toast bread by drying the bread from it’s inherit moisture and caramelizing the sugars in the bread to give it the nice brown color we all recognize. In order to toast the bread faster, manufacturers add more heat energy and turn the conveyor belt speed up to produce more toast in a shorter period of time. The results, unfortunately, can be uneven and unappetizing. The color of the toast can be uneven due to the moisture within the bread. Raised edges of bagels and muffins can sometimes burn while other areas of the bagels and muffins are not fully toasted. Lastly, by intently focusing the energy from the heating elements on the surface of the bagel, the exterior can be ideal shade of brown but the interior can remain cool or lukewarm. The bagel can pass so fast through the toasting chamber that the inside of the bread never warms up. Our new impingement toaster technology changes that paradigm. By adding a high speed blower fan to recirculate air already heated from inside the toasting chamber through dozens of small jet nozzles, this recycled energy is refocused on the conveyer belt. We have significantly reduced the time it takes to toast bagels, muffins, croissants, and much, much more. The toaster utilizes traditional metal or quartz elements to generate heat, and provide the energy to toast the bread. The high speed jet nozzles now focus the air on the bread products so that the temperature of the bread rises rapidly. It evaporates moisture in the bread product, and allows the sugars in the bread to caramelize more quickly than conventional conveyer toasters. In addition, this high speed air reduces the tendency to give raised edges, such as on the sliced edge of a bagel, from burning under the intense raiding energy of the heating elements. Bagels, muffins, and croissants toast faster and have higher internal temperatures than conventional conveyor toasters. Tear open a bagel and feel the inside to see for yourself the difference. Several models of our Holman impingement conveyor toasters provide many options for the restaurant operator. Bagels can be toasted in as little as 15 seconds, croissants in as little as 12 seconds. Traditional bagel toasters take from 25 to 45 seconds for each toasting cycle. Typical users will see from 20 percent to 50 percent reduction in toast time depending on the bagels, muffins, or croissants. Electronic controls allow programming from 1-12 different menu items. One version features a split belt conveyor design for high volume restaurants with multiple menu items. Each side of the conveyor can be programmed independently for top heat, bottom heat, and belt speed. This version also features a reversing belt design, to allow operators to use the toaster as a small cheese melter. Buns with cheese on top can be placed on the accessory paddle and placed in the toasting chamber. A countdown timer can be preset to the exact time for optimal melting and color of the cheese. When the melting is complete, the belt automatically reverses direction to pull the product from the toasting chamber. Operators do not have to wait around to pull the paddle from the chamber, and thus producing the correct product every time. This is the most versatile, high speed conveyor toaster available today.
