One of the best-known cooking supply brands in the United States, Pillsbury has been in operation since 1872 when Charles Pillsbury opened up a flour mill in Minneapolis. In the mid-20th century, the company became one of the largest producers of grain and flour in the United States, and they also became famous for their selection of self-rising dough that was a staple in American households. Pillsbury is also known as an advertising giant for their instantly recognizable mascot, the Pillsbury Doughboy, which has been promoting their products since the 1950s.
