The Jimmy Dean Meat Company was founded in 1969 by the country singer, Jimmy Dean, whose love of breakfast led him to create a signature sausage recipe and build a factory. Based in Plainview, Texas, the company started out with just 60 employees. By 1971, it was the number one seller of breakfast sausage in the country.
