Customer questions about this product
- How can I properly care for this aluminum item?
- Hand washing is always the best option to ensure that your aluminum stays in best working order. However, if you decide to clean these in a dishwasher, we strongly recommend using metal-safe detergents and sanitizers to eliminate any flaking or tarnishing that could occur from some harsher cleaners.
- What's the difference between a riveted and a welded handle?
- A riveted handle is connected by small metal pieces (called rivets) that are crushed between the handle and the pan body to attach them together. This type of handle is more common on copper and aluminum cookware.
For a handle to be welded, the metal must first be melted and then adhered to the pan body. This creates a strong bond that leaves little to no space in between, so bacteria and other food crumbs can’t collect and cause sanitation issues. Both are long lasting solutions for fry and sauce pan handles because they are durable and can withstand heat.
Town 35401 Details
The Town 35401 1.5 qt. tapered aluminum sauce pan / dipper is great for stewing, boiling, and braising. It is perfect for all restaurants and caterers.
Each sauce pan features a plated steel handle riveted to an 17-gauge aluminum body which is marked with cup graduations and a beaded top edge. Since the handle is riveted on, it ensures a very rigid connection between handle and vessel, guaranteeing longevity even in a commercial kitchen.
A tapered sauce pan is ideal for cooking at lower temperatures for a longer time, because the smaller bottom diameter allows for less heat exposure. The flared sides of the pan also allows for good stirring action.
Top Diameter: 7"

Firstly, I will be buying more of these. You can't wreck them. I found this out because one of our cooks, who we've nicknamed "Set it and forget it", essentially turned red sauce into molten lava on the stove and then let it eat flame until it turned to this unsettling black beast. I thought the pan was shot. It wasn't. It came off. Don't get me wrong, it took some elbow grease, but I've seen other pans bite the dust because of junk like that.

I have a bunch of these and use them to melt different colors of chocolate. the pots are great quality and are the most perfect size.

Lightweight and versatile sauce pan good for heating up a can of broth, soup or tomato sauce and very easy to wash. Just be careful about not putting in the dish washer

This Town one and a half quart tapered aluminum sauce pan beyond impressed us. My wife has already picked out additional sizes for the next order. They can go straight into the oven without worry and offer a great no chip guarantee. Very well constructed and highly recommend.

I really like this 1.5 quart tapered aluminum sauce dipper. It's a very versatile. I like it the measurements on the side of the pan for one needing to scoop sauces

This was my 2nd pan to purchase after getting the 3qt model. I have used this to make my sorbet liquid and it gets the sorbet to a great simmer in no time at all. And once I am finished reducing the liquid, I submerge the bottom part of the pan in a ice bath and the aluminum really helps to cool the liquid within a minute or so. I will definitely buy other sizes of this pan. And don;t forget the silicone grip handle that you need to purchase seperately at a great price.

I couldn't believe how cheap this pan was so I bought a few different sizes for home use. The handle gets hot and the silicone handles on the site are not made to fit, but they can be forced on the handle. I didn't like the discoloration I saw in the pan as I cooked different things in it (and couldn't scrub off). I'll stick with stainless steel pans from here on out.

These are nice pans for the price. They hear handy for heating up small quantities of sauces or gravies. They have held up well to our use.

My favorite use of the Town 35401 1.5 Qt. Tapered Aluminum Sauce Pan is making caramel sauce. I love its small size so it does not take up much room

Thick heavy aluminum pot that holds up to super high heat nicely, the handle does get hot but I will be buying the covers for it. You cant beat the price, and quality. Very happy, will be getting the rest of this set. Its exactly what i am looking for!

This is simple and easy to use. It is lightweight and rocks for making quick sauces or anything else you need really fast. Pretty good quality for the price too.

You cant go wrong here, thick heavy aluminum pot that holds up to super high heat nicely, the handle does get hot however so you'll need a rag or oven mit to handle it if cooking long periods on the stove. You cant beat the price, quality and workmanship of this pot anywhere and i have looked. This is another one of those hidden gems amongst the website, i wish they would promote this more because this isd a win/win purchase!

Very useful and perfect size for many different tasks. Also perfect for beating eggs. I have two of these near my cooking area all the time.

This sauce pan is small, but it is very useful in helping refill items on my steam table. I cannot live without it. The price on this site for it is outstanding.

Perfect small pan for many of my kitchen jobs. I use a bowl as a cover when needed. Be careful though as the handle can get hot.
Nancy M. Posted on 08/16/2011
I love the clean, linear style of this saucepan. I keep the 1.5 quart handy for just about anything, whether I want to whip up a quick sauce, make hard-boiled eggs or warm up some milk. The fact that it comes without a lid doesn't bother me because I have lots of lids in several sizes in my kitchen cabinet, and I can always use one that will fit this pan, if I need to. Although this is not a fancy saucepan, it does the job just like the more expensive ones. For the money you can't go wrong.
Cristina S. from Chris Posted on 07/07/2011
This pan is great for warming up sauces and soups. The best feature that I like about it is that the handle is riveted instead of spot-welded. Over construction is sturdy and the price is a steal.
