I've never used a puppet-style mitt before, and I really like this one. It's easy to don (on and off) one-handed. I can take pans out of a 500-degree oven, or grab a cast iron skillet off the stove without fear of burning my hand. This mitt reaches far enough up my arm that I'm protected from hot oven racks, and side heat on the outdoor grill. It's pricey, but well worth it.
