What started out as humble beginnings on a Connecticut farm in 1929, has expanded to one of the most well-known name brands in foodservice. Margaret Rudkin, founder of Pepperidge Farm, started the company as a bread-baking business. Baking nutritious, all-natural whole wheat bread to accommodate her son's severe allergies, Margaret soon won over grocers and specialty shops with her delicious and healthy bread. Overcoming many challenges, Margaret opened a modern commercial bakery in 1947 with the same dedication to quality as her own baking. The classic goldfish cracker was developed in the 1960s and from there, the company expanded quickly until it was sold to Campbell Soup in 1961. Today, the Pepperidge Farm name brand continues to share the same commitment to excellence and quality that has allowed it to become an American favorite.
