Scratch and Dent Avantco GDC-49F-HC 53" Black Swing Glass Door Merchandiser Freezer with LED Lighting

I think that over a period of time I have purchased about 3 of these. The AVANTCO brand is pure garbage. All of these merchandsers have broken down. It is usually the control panel that goes bad. I have had other brands and they have lasted for years. If you are going to sell you own brand - ensure that the manufacturer gives you something that will work beyond 2 years. I am so angry - because the last one was purchased sometime in 2020 or 2021 - and now that has stopped working. Garbage

We are about to open our shop for the first time, we order on time and freezer is NOT working properly. Not good in a saturday after hours and we can't comunicate. Very dissapointed!

I got one freezer the 53" one and it came damaged and makes an annoying and irritating noise when it kicks in, got nothing but runaround from the webrestaurant to the kitchen warranty guys, who is suppose to look out for the warranty but they bailed on me with zero response.

This company is no good to do business. I bought this in Jun 2023 since today i.e. Feb 2025 2 times there is an issue. 1st time motor for the compressor fan and 2nd time making different noise. I still don't know what is the problem. Luckily I purchased extended warranty so may be it will be covered. Let's see. But do not buy this product.

So far so good. Pulled down to 0 in no time. Only problem is it is very tall I should have measured first. Had to put it somewhere else. it is very large.

I purchased in either July or August 2023. Started using it in September 2023 when I opened my bakery. Now February 2025 just 16 months after being in use it makes these horrible sounds like loud screeches. I have followed the cleaning directions and maintenance to a T. This stores our frozen product for customers to purchase from. What a disappointment!

I purchased this freezer 6/2023 and the R290 has leaked out. The cost to repair the unit is almost the same as to buy a new one,NEVER AGAIN, what a piece of junk, shame on Webstraunt for selling such a poor quality.

We received the freezer in July 2023 and it worked great. We purchased it because of the cost as we are a nonprofit that provides food to our community. In June 2025, the freezer started making a high pitched noise. We had the freezer serviced and were told it needed a new top fan motor. While waiting for the part the freezer stopped working altogether and we lost all our meat. They came today 7/1/2025 to replace the top fan motor and when the freezer started again, it started making a different noise. We cannot run the freezer because the bottom fan motor needs to be replaced. Now the cost to repair is almost as much as what we paid. We will never purchase this brand again.

I’ve had this freezer for less than a year. Tonight we came in after hours and noticed an electrical burning smell in our lobby. After having the fire department come out due to concerns of not being able to locate the source, it was determined to be this freezer. Stay away from this freezer, we should have been cautious after reading the poor reviews but needed something budget friendly. Prior to this issue, we also noticed moisture building inside the glass forts that we are unable to remove. Horrible purchase, BUYER BEWARE!

10 months before it broke down with a loud wine and rumble. Trust the reviews, this is a fancy looking garbage bin.

Every time a customer opens the freezer door, the freezer makes a high pitch siren noise. Very annoying.

This freezer works great. It has a sleek clean look to it. I have had no issues at all.

Add me to the list of one star review. We bought two of these and they both give us constant problems. Complete garbage product, will utterly avoid avantco in the future.

exactly as described and arrived super fast. We have had it in our store for a bit now and very happy with it.

Works great! only thing we don't love is the LED lighting is a little harsh on the eyes.

The cost of the product is attractive and when it’s actually functioning it serves its purpose. But reliability is obviously critical for a freezer and in 2 1/2 years it has failed twice and we lost all product. And then it takes a week or two to fix even with a warranty. If you decide to give it a shot you MUST buy the extended warranty because you will undoubtedly need it. I would also have some type of back up system for temperature because it has basically just failed without notice. I think its a fan or controller issue

We purchased four of these units for our small retail store. They are great. We have had them in use for about 7 months now with no issue. Our store is temperature controlled to make sure the compressors aren't getting overheated, which I believe is a big part of their longevity. We use the shelf dividers to help our products stand up, and they look great! Definitely an affordable options to other big brands, or use units that you're not sure on how long they'll last.
