For operator safety, the blade is activated with button on the opposite end of the knife, and it automatically shuts off when the button is released. A guard ensures the blade can only cut in one direction at a time, and it can also be adjusted to slice meat at different thicknesses so you can make great-looking sandwiches and get the most out of each gyro cone. Don't Buy Works great, when it works. Wires keep coming lose inside handle. returned once to fix. Worked for a little longer. Wire inside handle disconnected again. over $ worked for less then a year. Not worth it.

This is a nice specialty item for cutting really thin slices of meat for gyros and kabobs. Easy to use and one of the best way to slice meat from a vertical broiler.
