This square planter features a double-wall construction that creates a sub-irrigation system to allow the plants to mostly water themselves. Simply fill the water reservoir until water drains out, and then add your potting mix and plants. To fill the reservoir after your plant is potted, simply water your plant and the extra water will fill the reservoir! When using this planter in outdoor settings, drill a 3/4" hole in the side or back of the planter for easy access to the water reservoir for quicker filling / draining. For proper drainage, it is recommended that you fill the bottom of the planter with lightweight fillers such as lava rock, mulch, or wood chips. This helps reduce the risk of oversaturation as well as prevents bulging of the planter walls. After several weeks of regular watering, the plants will be able to pull moisture themselves through capillary action, but occasional watering is still needed. For best results, clean this planter with a soap solution and high-pressure water.
