Like traditional cast iron cookware, porcelain enameled cookware starts out being cast in the traditional method. This process transforms the frit into a smooth porcelain surface that is bonded to the iron. There is no exposed cast iron on the finished product, the black cooking surface and rims are transformed into matte porcelain.
